I was reading the forums and damn does it really take that long for a Kenne Bell to get delivered. Im gonna go with the 9lb swap. Ive got Serias II Blower with 10 lb pulley, BBK Long Tube Headers, BBK Off Road X Pipe, Bassani Cat Back Exhuast, 80 MM MAF 42 lb injectors, BBK 75 MM Throttle Body, 3:73 Gears, Diablo Chip, and Cold Air Induction. Im at 359 rwhp and 387 lb of torque. If I put the 9 lb Kenne Bell on there, how much more can I expect? My blower activates off of wide open throttle and not rpms so there is like a delay for boost, is the Kenne Bell the same way? Also would it be better to use my 42s or use the KB 36s. Any advice would greatly appreciated. Jake

You'd probably get better response posting this in the "Power Adder" section, but I'll see what I can answer.

Most guys running the 9psi KB's are running about the 405+rwhp zone. Yours should be good for a little better than that, (around the 415-430mark) with your upgrades. The KB will give you nearly full boost by 1800rpm, so there’s virtually no delay. Stand on it and Rock!!!

You could use your 42's, but the KB 36's will still suffice and keep low speed driveability and emissions cleaner in the process.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

You could also always go with the Series V twin screw. It’ll perform just as well as the KB and you can still stick with the Saleens original equipment, look and tradition? I think they both cost about the same.

The saleen series V is nowhere near the KB :notnice: :notnice: :notnice:

The S281e with forged engine, all the preps and 12psi only makes 445HP, thats way less than 400rwhp :(
Actually about 380rwhp assuming they're not overrated like other S281 are...

So do the math and compare with a KB...

Well, as far as I know, the Series V is the same charger used in the AED race kit, (a Lysholm 2300AX twin screw) not the Eaton. The AED Kit is capable of supporting 800hp at 20psi. I’d say that’s on pretty even ground with the KB. Maybe it’s the way that Saleen tunes the kit that’s responsible for the lower numbers, but I was under the impression that figure of 445hp/450lbs ft/tq was at the rear wheels, not at the fly wheel……and that’s still pretty impressive!

Every body always give flywheel HP numbers, whether it's a corvette, honda or a saleen. Rear wheel numbers are always a surprise when you go to dyno...
The S281 is rated 375HP and makes around 300 at the wheels, no reason for the s281e to be rated differently! They'd be too happy to announce over 500HP if the car would make 445 at the wheels!

Well, If I remeber correctly, the old series II used to make 325 or so at the wheels, did it not? And the Lysholm used in the Series IV and V is far superior to the old Eaton used in on the Series II. Hell even an AED Eaton at 9psi will make between 325-350hp. And considering the S281E in 425hp trim ran [email protected] in an extra heavy vert on Pirelli PZero radials and tops out at about 185mph, i'm inclined to believe that these are rear wheel numbers. That's far too fast for flywheel numbers.

My eaton series II made 280 at the wheels, and according to other owners, the series IV and V don't make that much more.
I hope others S281 owners can add their comments to confirm this.
Doesn't the s281e have a Torsen differential, or posi-traction whatever they call it? That would help a lot for 0-60 and 1/4mile numbers even at 425 crank HP...

I'm not really sure how much it would help times? If both wheels are locked on launch then I can't see it being any different than any other RWD Mustang? It only makes me think that those are rear wheel numbers because for one the Lysholm twin screw is far superior to the Eaton and will move a bigger volume of air with less air charge temperature. So I can’t see it being only marginally better? Not to mention it's running these times (0-60 4.61 ¼ mile – [email protected]) on 18" radial tires, which is no easy feat in what's probably a 3700lb (after you add all the Saleen gear) Vert. And unless the 185mph top speed was exaggerated, it would take quite a bit of power to pull it off. Even a Z06 doesn’t pull that kind of top end.

I tried checking the Saleen site to find a few more specs on the blower, but their parts section will be down until October 7th. So I guess we’ll have to hope there are a few more late model Saleen owners on here to clear this up for us?

Juste look at Saleen Web site:

S281 : 375HP@5800 , 13s/108mph
S281e : 445HP@6000 , 12.5s/113mph

These are consistent numbers betwen the 2 cars for the HP and corresponding 1/4 mile result.
Why would one car be fly wheel hp and the other rwhp ??? That wouldn't make sense!
And I don't know where you read the 185mph top speed number !?!

Actually, I was inclined to believe that they were both rear wheel numbers. Yeah their times aren't as impressive as they could be, but you've got to keep in mind that they were run on 18" radials!?!

And here's where I got the top speed stats....

I dunno, it's possible that I'm wrong. But I do know that the Lysholm will support 800hp regardless. Whether the Saleen kit is tuned for it, or not.
