Everything is installed and tuned with the exception of my guages. It pulled 357 RWHP, and 407 RWTQ... I was hoping for 400 rwhp and similar torque, but apparently, this blower is making 10 psi... so, big shot tuned my car with a very safe tune. Believe it or not, i like the 4.10's in this setup. As long as I dont stab the throttle it hooks pretty decently.

Great torque. Sounds like the tune is adding a lot of fuel or taking a lot of timing out to be safe. What's the air/fuel ratio?

Wow only 357 RWHP? I was looking to go this route as well after driving a cobra. I have a 01 GT Vert. Kenne Bell with 9psi is suppose to be in the 400+ range which would be higher than a cobra. Are the HP ratings listed on the Kenne Bell site not accurate? Damn I want to beat the cobra with this kit.

Oh no...they're dead on assuming you don't mind making ragged edge A/F ratio's, a steady diet of 100+ octane fuel and 23* of timing a regular occurance. :D

So to answer your question....no, their stats aren't accurate. At least not for your average user running 91-Octane and reasonable timing and A/F ratio's. Either plan on pulleying it for more boost, or look into a charger that'll make that kind of power right out of the box.

I don't mean to derail the thread here, but I have yet to see a Tork Tech Inc. kit make less than 387rwhp at their advertised 8psi (usually 390-405hp through a stick shift). And that number was on a car running it through an automatic transmission. Upgrade the fuel system, swap the pulley and make sure you've got a short block that'll hold up to the power and 500-550+hp isn't hard to reach.

...did I mention they were about $500 cheaper than the Kenne Bell kit as well?

Just throwing it out there....do what you will with it. :p

Don't forget buying the new hood that you have to with the Tork Tech kit. Just so he knows that that is also an expense (there goes the $500 difference). I guess they also have the extended hood scoop that you can use to keep the stock hood. Looks like a great kit and it comes with an 8-rib setup standard. Definitely something to look into. :nice:

This is indeed true...the extended hood scoop ($200), or aftermarket hood will need to be purchased to clear the blower with the Tork Tech....but beyond that, you've got everything you need to run between 390 and 500 horsepower on pump gas.

If you want to get anywhere close to the 500hp mark with the 2.1L Kenne Bell, be prepared to shell out the money for an injector upgrade, fuel pump upgrade, 8-rib pulley upgrade, big tube intake and 90MM mass air option and 75mm Throttle body.

The cost of those pieces alone are going to kill ya on the big end, where they're all included as standard equipment with the Tork Tech. :shrug:
 
I'm the guy Gearbanger is referring to who made only 387 rwhp on my Tork Tech setup. However, as I explained in the relevant thread, that number is suspect for a number of reasons. I do not doubt that my car is making right around 400 rwhp and 400 rwtq now, but I haven't gotten a chance to re-dyno it. When I do, I'll be sure to post up the results.
 
That's fine and all, but I hardly think a hood scoop extended all of an inch and a half, that was modeled after the stock one is going to give away the farm.

You tell me....if it weren't for the whine of the blower and the obvious acceleration, would you thing there was anything going on underneath the hood of this car?

387 out of an auto vs 417 out of a manual equates to only being 7rwhp down at the crank - that could be temperature, altitude, ect. No reason to worry

You're right, but there were issues with the dyno session. For one, my car only made about 350 rwtq due to an incorrect closed-loop to open-loop delay (AFR was at 16:1 at the torque peak :shock:), and the dyno itself seemed to be having issues (it was a Mustang-style loadholding dyno and the pump that provides the rolling resistance was not functioning correctly, which caused an erratic "curve" at the top of the pull in 3rd).
 
my full bolt on GT with a KB 1.7L @ 9 PSI put down 428rwhp/433rwtq. It was fun, but still wasn't enough against most terminators and modded LS1s. Trying to line your 400whp car to an 03 Cobra won't be pretty most of the time, considering most terminators are not stock. My recommendation is if you're set on a KB, try to find a used 2.2L or 2.6H before pulling the trigger on a new 2.1L kit.
 
Gearbanger - does the Tork Tech kit work with NPI heads?

As far as I know...yes. Although it may require the later model timing cover...I'm really not 100% There are a few T-Brid/Cougar guys over on TCCOA.com running them with NPI heads. From what they advertise, it'll work with an Mustang, T-Bird/Cougar, Crown Vic/Marquis.
My recommendation is if you're set on a KB, try to find a used 2.2L or 2.6H before pulling the trigger on a new 2.1L kit.

I'm wondering....do you think KB will still sell the old 2.2L Autorotor as a kit if requested. I've noticed a lot of guys still prefer them to the current 2.6L. The new line of blowers is just too damn quiet. Nothing screamed like the old 2.2L.

I'd buy one over even a 2.8LH just for the noise factor alone. :drool:
