Hello everyone, I am in kuwait and my brother is taking care of my 99 mustang in Phx Az. I left the car for him till he finishes school and bring it back to KUWAIT , the car has forged bottom end, TEA stage III heads, long tube headers and complete exhaust sys. It has everything except upgraded fuel sys and rear end suspension. He called me today asking me for my opinion on getting kenny bell blower ok. I had flattop pistons and he will buy different ones for the blower application, but the question is that we don't know what copmression and boost that we must get in order to hit 600+rwhp safel.

Thanks,
Ahmed

You will be very happy with that setup
I would suggest a minimum of a 23cc dish, thats what i'm putting in mine for use with a roots blower. Thats also what the 03/04 Cobra uses but our compression will be @ 9.0 where the Cobra is 8.5 because of the bigger heads. If you want to get to @ 8.5 CR I think you'll need a 28cc dish.

you want the 2.2L kit. you will need a new hood and fuel system upgrade of course.

I would call or email KB as they will give better advice than this website IMO.

23cc slugs will put you up closer to the 9.5:1 ratio with PI heads, not 9.0:1. If 600rwhp is his goal, then a set of 17cc-19cc pistons would suit him better to starve off detonation. He's going to have to spin that KB pretty hard to reach this mark (even a 2.2) and it's going to start making a lot of heat. Lower compression would be better at this level to keep combustion temperatures under control. Going to the 23cc slugs would probably work too, but he won't be able to run street gas at that power level, with that kind of squeeze.

You are correct sir. 23cc=9.0 to 1. 28cc = 8.2 to 1. This is straoght from Manley. May be different for each piston manufacturer but those are th numbers given to me by Manley and SHM.

Oops...yes, you guys are right. I got my numbers backwards. Not sure what the hell I was thinking when I posted that? The larger the dish, the lower the compression ratio. Just apply what I said previously in reverse order.......carry on.
