Another Keyless entry question, I searched and still couldnt find the answer.

The problem is that after I insert the key in the ignition and turn on and off (8 times)the doors cycle (lock and unlock about 5-8 times as well) it says in the manual that they should only lock the unlock and thats when you press any button.
Is there something wrong with my keyless entry or my remote, because after they cycle I press and hold any button and they cycle around 5-8times again

I bought a brand new battery for it and I bought the car with the remote not working, just trying to figure out whats wrong, any help is appreciated
thanks

my remote # is:
F8DB-15K601-BA

I can't remember for sure but I think when I did mine after that initial cycle I just hitthe unlock button, it worked and then the remote was good from there on.

I know it explains how to do it in my haynes manual for the car. I will look when I get home.

Good...because I want to know how to do this too. I put the 2001 drivetrain and wiring in my 81...and I would like to make some key pads work.

sorry I totally forgot to look, but this is what I did, from the programyourremote site:

1. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in
RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode.

2. Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle
to confirm programming.

3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote. Door locks will
cycle again to confirm programming.

4. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

perhaps you forgot to end with the key in the on position?
