kill switch

do to the fact that both my sister and he boyfriends cars have been stolen from my house i would like to wire a kill swith somewhere in my car. i would like to put a toggle some where under the dash or somehwhere accesible form the drivers seat. which wires would i need to splice into and where can i put the switch?

help guys i would like to hook it up as soon as possible!

fuel cut off.................or ignition...............just need to find any hot wire....................really good thread in here about it being able to be hooked up into the cig lighter so when you push it in it makes the connection.............sounds good........try it out both ign or fuel would work.

Mines is hooked up to the power wire of the msd box. THe box is hidden, the switch is hidden and the car simply will not start unless you bypass the msd at the coil which will require you to remove the fender because the wires are hidden. :D

When I wired up my Aeromotive Fuel Pump, I hid a switch (I'm not saying were!)to cut the power off to it. Everytime I leave the car for an extended amount of time I turn the fuel pump cut off switch off... Being my car is carburated if someone does try to steal it, it will start and they may get a block away with the fuel that is left in the fuel bowls. After that the car isn't going anywere.

exactly why i want to go with ignition switch now.......................who is gonna pop the hood and bypass the ign box????? who spends that much time on a car? and if you park it in a high traffic area with alot of lights not gonna happen...................

See http://www.autozone.com/images/cds/gif/large/0900823d8016715e.gif for a wiring doagram for an 87 Mustang.

On 87- 91 cars the fuel pump relay is under the seat, 92 and later cars ,the fuel pump relay is under the Mass air duct on the passenger fender well. Cut the red/black wire going to the fuel pump relay. Splice a 16 or 18 gauge wire into the wire and connect it to one side of the switch. Connect the other side of the switch to the other end of the red/black wire going to the fuel pump relay. When you are done the switch should be in the middle of the spliced red/black wire that goes to and comes from the fuel pump relay. Using the inertia switch side of the circuit allows you to use light gauge wire and light duty switches. There is less than 1 amp going through the circuit, so you don’t have to worry about voltage drop across the wiring depriving the fuel pump of electrical power.

j richker i think i am gonna do it using the way you mentioned. also the town i live in is very small and has almost 0 crime. its just that my sisters boyfriend moved up here and started talkin alota $hit now everyone hates him.

I would go with jrichker's suggestions. Professional car thieves are familiar to alarms, they usually installed them. The real only way is to rig something. Removing things can help, I remove the rotor button under the cap when I feel unsecure. I know people (were right wing thug haters) who have all kinds of thing rigged to mame or kill thieves. One guy I know has the airbag rigged so if someone messes with the consil if will trigger the airbag, and hopefully thier head will be in the right place. Another we rigged up some razor wire with some rat poison on the blades. He put some plastic under the dash so it will keep currious hones people out and the thief will bust his hand through and get a good deep cut. Some say this is illegal, but what is the car thief going to do, call the cops?

I would invest in a big dog and a 12 gauge.

this is what sucks about loving your car.......lol, worrying abut idiots breaking into it,vandalizing it, and ofcourse the ultimate, stealing it. i would recomend in addition to a kill switch a cheapie alarm. you can get some cheapie alarms nowdays for 50 bucks and under that are electrically triggered, so if your doors opened, your dome light goes on and sounds it off, and they have shock sensors too for if the windows busted or its hit hard. their cheap and have a one wire hook up so no costly install and that bs. alarms are by no means a cure all, but for something say out side your house, it can help. anything that helps slow a theif down helps. i already have a cheapie alarm on mine and will be wiring in a kill switch to the ignition soon.........i think they need more of those decoy programs you see on tv where they set a car out just to be stolen with cameras in it and when the theives get in the doors lock and here comes the cops.......can't think of anything more fun!!!!!!!
