Did any of you notice the Camaro add banner above the threads

I mean ... This is a ... Ford ... forum

Maybe I just don't see the big pic

Seems like it would be more effective on a Chevy forum

According to Tim, it's content based advertisement, so that's the ad we receive.

Also noticed this. I saw my first one in person today, but from a distance. It was black, but I couldn't hear any exhaust to be able to tell what was under the hood and I don't know the model well enough to judge by what I saw on it.

Speaking of, the ad is right above my text box as I type, hah.

a guy i work with just got a black ss last night. very sweet looking car, but i wouldn't ever buy one. i've read too many negative things about them. basically its a the same as they were in the 90s. a bullet in a straight line then everything else takes a seat at the back of the bus.

all the reasons why chevy is now government motors is represented in the new camaro

ummmmmmm.........

Ford and GM cant afford to be enemies. If we had foreign crap for banners, then i'd be a little bothered. But Ford.....GM......its all good to me.

How many of us actually ONLY own fords anyway? Ford doesnt own this site. In our family we have a cougar, Dodge Ram, Dodge Durango, mustang, explorer, saturn, and an Impala.

I work at a chevrolet dealership and all I own are fords. Haha. I go to work every day at chevy so I can get my paycheck and spend it on my ford. We have go several of the new camaros in as well here. Those v6 models are fast.

According to Oppenheiser, the new 300-horsepower 3.6-liter V6-equipped Camaro will run from zero to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds regardless of transmission choice. The V6 coupe will cover the quarter-mile in 14.5 seconds with an auto and 14.7 seconds with a manual, both at 97 mph. The brakes don't sound quite as impressive, though, as Oppenheiser said the base Camaro stops from 60 to zero mph in 132 feet.

Not surprisingly, the V8-equipped Camaro SS delivers better numbers across the board. Chevy's Camaro SS outfitted with the 422-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 six-speed manual hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and runs a 13.4-second quarter-mile at 108 mph according to Oppenheiser. Strangely enough, Oppenheiser also claims that the automatic-equipped SS Camaro, which is rated at 400 hp, runs from zero to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds. "We optimized the shift points," he said.

Also car and driver did a side by side comparison of the new challenger, mustang, and camaro. Not suprisingly the mustang came in first, camaro second, and challenger last. Here is more info if you are interested in watching the video

ummmmmmmmmmmmm I own ford. Everything else is foreign because I prefer my cars to run without mechanical problems. Ummmmmmmmmmmm. Would you like me to list the issues with the cars you mentioned AND compare the reliability ratings to foreign manufacturers? No I dont think so. And you wonder why American car companies have such issues or why we Ford people don't support them.

They should have let GM fall on its face but here we go, now you and the PRES are supporting a car company with your tax dollars that cannot support itself financially and with sucky build quality. GM.. should I go into cadillac and its crap quality? Saturn? Yes I can hit that too, Durango? Suspension problems ring a bell? Chrysler (relative of dodge) jeeps quality issues? fuel pumps ring a bell? Supporting these garbage companies is worse than supporting Ford just because we like Fords. But lets all just get along and "co-exhist" because its American patriotism. Insolvency and bad quality are a patriotic attribute. And yes - reminder -you are on a Ford site my friend. Not Chevy.

I think the new Camaro's are f-ugly, and Ford pulled the best move ever by not taking any bail-out money.

I see that banner all the time. I was always like....wtf? Are they trying to make us all of a sudden change our minds. Those new camaros are Fugly in my opinion.

Oh, and I own all Fords. A Mustang, an F-150, and up and till recently an old Escort with 180,000miles on it. My brother was driving it, and got hit by a drunk driver. Got hit in the right quarter, flew over a curb, down an embankment, and slammed the other quarter into a pole. Put two new rims, on it, and the car drove just fine. That's quality.

Seriously. See what I mean? Stories like this all the time, plus all the consumer reports will tell you they are just built well. And how about the mpg of the ford escort.

35mpg on the highway. I bought the car about 7 years ago for $500 with 125,000 miles on it. My brother moved overseas, so last month we just had one of those car recyclers come get it. Insurance paid me $600, and the recycler paid me $140. So after 7 years, I made money on the car.

I've seen lots of folks get better mileage than that too. Try 40's.
