You must be one hell of a driver. I'm seeing stock verts running 14.30's all day long.

I have NEVER seen a stock GT run a 14.1. But, I guess it COULD be possible if you are a AWSOME driver. My best is a 14.6 With my mods being American Thunder catback, and Mac "cold-air" intake into fenderwell.

With the SPEC clutch. You can either HIT or MISS. I must have missed! cause this clutch SUKS! I aint gonna take ANYMORE chances with SPEC.
Imma go with the King cobra next!

In my case....the spec clutch chatters when engaging into first...The throw-out bearing sounds like a cricket on crack...and when in neutral at idle.i can actually HEAR the clutch rattling or suttin...sounds like its scraping suttin.. i dunno...the clutch is noticably louder than my stock clutch was. I dont like it! ANyone think that these problems are hurting my tranny? When shifting everything seems fine though. I just dont want this faulty clutch to damage my tranny...

I paid $about $330 if I remember right when I had the Spec clutch installed. That price also included having the Flywheel resurfaced.

I am installing my 9psi KB kit in two weeks. I will have my 3650 go through the 1-2, 2-3 BS and it would be a good thing to upgrade my clutch then. I get mixed messages from this thread and I am even more confused than before reading it.

Should I leave my clutch stock, 'upgrade' to a KC or SPEC (what stage)?

Or are there any other options out there?

Joe

No it is not necessary, but every install nets a different result. We wanted to add the heavy duty parts and have the adjustability, and now I am glad we did. Just make sure you have a shop that has done a bunch of clutches do yours, preferably a shop that knows the SN95. They will likely be more apt to get you what you want.
A lot of people rave over the Centerforce dual friction or Mcleod dual friction...these are a couple other very popular choices you may want to look at as well. You'll need to have the flywheel resurfaced, but this is a normal part of replacing the clutch (hopefully...dbl ck to make sure they are resurfacing it!). Also, be sure a good TOB bearing is also installed.

Whats a good Throw-out bearing to use? SO I can reuse my stock flywheel when I get the KC clutch? As long as it gets resurfaced? Again

I guess I was thinking of the SPEC which comes with a plastic TOB...the Ford one should be fine. The stock flywheel (resurfaced) will be fine also, but if you have the money, this would be a good time to replace with a lighter one.
FRPP has the Cobra flywheel for $395.00 MSRP (must have the 8 bolt crank though, not the 6 bolt, but I'm pretty sure the 02s had 8) This would help you rev quicker. You can probably find this flywheel with a street price of about $350.

Joe,

I understand that you are getting mixed messages here on these threads. I have seen alot of people posting on here that have said that they love there SPEC clutch and such..and then I have seen people say that it is crap. I have also seen people on here say that the King Cobra Clutch is no good either and Vise versa.

You are getting a KB kit. You might want to upgrade your clutch to a clutch that can handle the added HP. What clutch you decide on is your decision.
If I was you I would go ahead with the SPEC stage 2 or even 3. I am one person that had a negative experience with SPEC clutch.
Good luck on whatever you decide on.
