I am looking to maybe add to my stable and come across this King, but the stripe is throwing me. It is supposedly a 73k original mile car, everything is there, but the side stripe just doesn't seem to fit. I have been looking around some and can't find anything that matches, so I thought I would ask here to see if anyone has any kind of knowledge about it....

the pinstripes look ok but that sidestripe is not anything ive ever seen on a stock king before. could have been a dealer thing, or just something someone stuck on over the years

Yeah-it is nothing I have ever seen before either-just more curious about it being something stock that no one has seen before, or if it something that someone took the time and added after they bought it. The lettering doesn't look to be right, but I like the stripe....

it was added later and is not part of the king package.

is there pinstripping along the rocker? its hard to tell from the pic. maybe was added after a partial repaint or blend on one of the doors or rocker.

Was finally able to talk to the owner over the phone today. He said, if i remember correctly, that the previous owner was the original owner and had the original lettering removed and this stripe added. It is a King as stamped on the buck tag and is unmolested save for the stripe. Going to look at it Saturday, probably bringing it home unless something goes really wrong.....

you know the stripe doesnt look bad necessarily

Looks like an excellent project. I'd lose the extra striping on the c-pillar and around the gas cap too...

I didn't end up getting it. We didn't come to an agreement on price and it was just a little shy of what I could spend. If I would have gotten it, I would have gotten rid of the pinstripping and replaced the side stripe, more than likely without the lettering. It would be a good project for someone though....
