I seem to remember a few people having done this (GR2s in the rear, GasAJusts up front). I think my current KYBs are too stiff in the rear (there is always a sensation of the car 'bouncing' around while turning... for a long time I thought it was stuff in the trunk rolling around but after tying everything in the trunk down and covering it with blankets the sensation is still there) and was thinking switching to GR2s might solve the issue. I also get terrible wheel hop, and was thinking this might help there too.

I really don't want to spend a ton of money on really fancy shocks, just looking to see if the GR2s will suit my needs. Can anyone chime in with experiences?

i have that combo with 5 leaf mid-eye springs out back and 750 coils up front with Opentracker roller perches. the back is still pretty stiff but it's not horrible and i don't have any wheelhop issues but i never really did. with the old springs out back the rear of the car would jump around a lot going over big bumps but i think that was just worn out shackle bushings

I swapped out from the Gas-a-just to the GR2s on the rear of my convertible, and it made a huge difference in ride and lateral grip through rough corners. That said, the rear unsprung weight is pretty light on this car (more info on web page in signature).
The Gas-a-just have a very stiff high speed damping, and are (IMO) harsh.
The change will most likely will have no effect on wheel hop.
