Anyone hear anything about this? Someone told me LACR went from 1/4 to 1/8th because they are closing down or something?

i heard they where closing but this is first i hear about it being a 1/8th mile track

edit: it is still a 1/4 mile track but it is closing

What would be the point of converting? Its not going to save them money. Unless they can sell an 1/8th mile of land to someone.

I hope they are open until the end of the year. I want to make a trip in October.

is there going to be any tracks in CA left. I never been to the area but you guys seemed to have lost a lot of tracks over the years.

We have one real track in new england ( NED) if that closes I am going to have to get a divorce ( wife won't leave the area) and move down south or something.

Yeah im pretty sure Irwindale is at least an 1/8th mile and Pomona is a 1/4 mile but thatd be a drive for me.

With all these new cars coming out soon with 400 to 500 HP I wonder how any car is going to be allowed on a 1/4 mile track without a roll cage Seems our track has strict rules to comply with NHRA rules so they will run here.

actually they dont hold any street legal drags in pomona, the only 1/4 mile track that will be left is Fontana A.K.A California Speedway. Irwindale is a 1/8 mile track

Probably the enviromentalist guys getting them shut own, or turned into 1/8 tracks.

1/8 tracks cause less emissions than 1/4...no tracks cause the least emissions.

When cali gets to where you cant see a thing due to smog, then we can worry about emissions .

well in pomona they do host the NHRA drags but dont do street legals due to complaints of neighborhood folk complaining of street racing after a street legal event.

i was at lacr a week ago and was still a 1/4.....the lady only mentioned it might turn into a 1/8 due to the winds that day......
