awesome. I would love to do some runs around a track on the weekends, but I dont know of any tracks in the Denver area.

Yeah from my search in Denver area all I could find were a couple of drag strips and one speedway but it's small and only an oval.

Man, somone needs to get one built!

Yeah, the 3m Painters tape is to protect from rocks and marbles (little bits of rolled up rubber from tires)

Normally if one even bothers to do such a thing they tape A LOT more. I did the first time. Looked like I plowed through a smurf convention. And lots of guys racing still do that.

But upon seeing I rarely had anyone in front of me I didn't really bother that much this time. Most likely won't even do any at all next time as I had no marks on the car after.

Oh and not having anyone in front of me isn't because I am Speed Racer, it's because the spacing there is really good, heh. My time of 2:12 is decent for my first time and street tires. There was one mildly prepped 2006 Mustang GT there doing 2:01s!

Of course the new GTRs there in stock form were laying down 1:52s........Jebus.

Nissan's Big brother I mean GPS system will void your warranty if you:

1) Drive the car past 100 MPH
2) Drive the car at any closed course road course (except for the Nissan test track being followed by $2500 worth of maintenance).
3) Use the Launch Control Feature.
4) Boost pressure register above factory setting

Plus many many other.

Well, how would they know if you drove it on a track as long as you kept it below 100 mph? Where did you get this information?

The car's GPS knows where race tracks are at. It releases the speed limiter once it detects you're on a track so you can have max fun.

As warranty voided and what not, I've not heard about that.

All I know about racing street cars and legal issues is most insurance companies will not cover any damage from any racing event. Some companies limit it to timed events only, though. Which is nice....course most events ARE timed.

Um, the nissan owner's manual? that onboard computer sucks... for them... but is awesome for Nissan...

Yes the computer records when ever it disabled the limiters and even reports the track you were at.

Hell the NAV screen for some tracks even has a WELCOME SCREEN for the particular track your on! "Welcome To Fuji Speedway" for example. And provides a track map.

Now you might be able to make your case if the computer shows you never went near a racing speed. It will record max speed and other info. If it's obvious that you just pulled in and parked to watch an event, they can't ding you for that.

So if you go to watch, park asap and turn the car off. It will record how long he car remained 'off' once entering and other data that in your 'viewing only' case will show them you indeed did not race.
