You can get tunes for lower octane fuel.

I have tunes for 87 performance and 87 economy on my tuner.

and they cost the same as the 92 Octane tunes dont they?

Plus they're loaded with other crap that I'll never use .......

I just want one option and I dont feel the need to subsidize the Drag Racing community in the process.

Is that too much to ask for?

if so, why?

Well a tune is a tune regardless of what octane it is for so I can understand why they would be the same price.

If you talk to a tuner I'm sure they could give you a very basic tune (i.e. improved throttle response, firmer transmission shifts, and improved gas economy). I would say that is worth $50 just to have a better running car. Hell, a tune up costs more than that!

I purchased the Xcal3 and installed a 91 octane tune. I noticed an immediate improvement on the throttle response (no more lag!). The shifting of my auto trans was firmer also.
However, after I installed my tune, 2 warning lights appeared. One was for the onboard diagnostics system (OBS) and the other was for the electronic throttle body. My owner’s manual directs me to have the dealer check them at the first opportunity. I have two questions. Have these two lights appeared as a result of the tune? Should I just go ahead and clear them?

i started another thread about this a while back, someone mentioned something i think like, turning key on (no start) press pedel down hold for ten seconds and then turn off for ten seconds before restart seemed to help mine, that being said i have 32k miles on my 06 v-6 not and it no longer does it. if i romp down on it from the start she just scoots and gits even chirps the tires.
