Just thought I would share this with you! We had a car meet and there was a modded 04 Sti and he was pretty sure he could take the goat. I told him that we can race but we have to go to a certain local that is safe with no on/off access for a few miles. So we headed off to this deserted local and ran three times and all three times I pulled him. No doubt that his car was stronger then a stock STi but once I hit third I just walked him. He was a real nice guy - not your usual ricer - good Military kid. We talked for a while after and he was impressed with the American muscle

The second was while I was headed home at 1am and I was cruising along my long boring stretch of three lane road (I live outside the city) and I see a car gaining on me and he pulls to the left and as he passes me he hits the brakes to slow and his tail is hanging at my front bumper. What do we have here??? A new 05 STi still with the dealer plates!!! And he wants a little goat. He takes off and I drop the throttle and gain on him then stroll right by and then slow back down. He tries me two more times and it ends like this . I sure hope I didn't make him regret his purchase!!!

All I can say is seeing this you guys in the new GTs will not have any problem taking a stock STi on a roll. You must watch those guys from the dig! They can usually get 1-2 cars with a good launch!

sweet,i thought they were 300HP? Wouldnt it own our GT once it spoils up? Or is the HP WAY less because it is at the flywheel? HP / Weight ratio is tremendous

WRX STI is a rally car and a damn good one. AWD and 300 HP. Now take the GTO or the Mustang to a rally race and then lets compare cars! Only problem with those STI's is that spoiler looks ridiculous!!

They are 300 hp 300 torque. If you get them from a roll they will have some turbo lag and the torque of the V8 will get you in front and by that time you should maintain your lead. Once in the triple digits you should pull them. They are geared pretty short and as aerodynamic as a brick!

Try not to race from a dig. They have the holeshot from hell! I've seen them put 1-2 cars on someone in a flash and then it's all catch-up time!!!

Our cars in a rally situation? Get the wreaker so it can pull our asses out of the ditch! The WRX is a great rally car but you are right, the spoiler is big. I didn't know how big until I say it in person last night.

I rode in the white one and it rides rough and it doesn't have that quality fit and feel like our cars. It's almost like a go-cart! The owner of the white took me for a ride and did a 5000 rpm launch off the line and I though axles were going to snap! My ass puckered on! It seems so abusive to the drivetrain with that kind of launch but you will leave the line first - no doubt!

WRX'S always get a 9.5 in fun to drive catagory, but the STI in particular is not a very good daily driver. Its an out of the box race car and drives like one. I owned 2 WRX'S not the STI'S I would love to take an STI and have the opportunity to drive it on a rally track with jumps and mudholes etc. Those cars must be awesome to drive in the dirt where they belong!!
