i just got back from a 30 mph roll on the local 1/mile track...i have a 2000 gt with 3.73.. catback..cai..hurst shifter..he has a 2004 lancer that was made to look like a evo one.. well we took off and he shifted 3 gears before i even got into third.every shift a puff of flame came out his tailpipe..he was 5 car lengths ahead of me before i even hit 60 mph.. how is this possible.how fast are these cars? i can shift with the front end staying up all of the time but i got my azz handed to me, i want to set my gt on fire .. i knew i should of bought a 03 cobra, im so embarrased..lol and all the time i thought the gts were ok in the fast dept....boy was i wrong. what do i need to do short of buying a 07 vette to beat this guy if i see him agan...ps he works at a napa store and he dont have alot of money to mod this lancer either.

Yeah welcome to the club... definetly a REAL evo. Did you hear turbo blowoff when he shifted??? BTW this thread will not last long, street racing forums are not allowed. You can always do what i do and say it was a "track" or "closed course"

yea sure sounded like it but when he bought it it wasnt an evo. he must of snuck the parts into it, he couldnt afford one. what would it take for me to get and edge? he only has 4cyl turbo whats the hp output of these cars anyways?

around 280-291 w/ the turbo upgrade, probably like 250-260 stock evo.

If you can get like 320ish to the wheels you could roll one, i raced one like a week ago, he spooled on me and I floored it in 4th at 2500rpms.... He BARELY pulled on me. It would have been a good race if i would have down shifted.

Don't street race it's retard.If you really want to race take
your car to the track.
You can easily build a standard Mitsubishi Lancer into a EVO8
but, in the end it will cost you alot more.
At Dynoday one week ago I seen a bone stock 06 Lancer EVO8
dyno 263whp.
They are quick cars out of the box and should beat your 00GT
by a car or two in the 1/4 mile at a track.
It doesn't really matter where the guy is employed if he beat you
by that much his car was upgraded.
These cars respond very we'll to mods.Their are also alot of
staged packages out their for the EVO8's.I have seen only a few
with staged 1000whp EVO8's out their if you got a thick wallet you
can do anything.

if its just a lancer take him to the track and smoke him because he wont be 4wd its just a fwd car then so he will have a hard time hooking up. It could be converted to 4wd but if thats the case he should have just bought an evo.

Did anyone else read the original post where it says that this was at a track? That being said, it was definitely a real Evo, hence he should take you down. I second the boost comment, thats a good way to make up the difference.

maybe the post was edited but he said track. Anyways those EVO8's (which i assume it is or is up to par to) claim just about 300hp, of course w/ AWD loss its less but competing w/ a turbo'd car from 30mph isnt ever easy with our cars. Either do a 10-15 mph roll or launch if and see if he can actually drive instead of having his turbo do the work; besides your car is N/A you shouldn't feel that bad. Or at least thats what i told myself when i used to loose to my bro's turbo Supra

the car was not a real evo.. i remember it a year and half ago.when he bought it..and i would of known enough not to go and loose to it. i assume its a awd cause its has a plate saying burnall4 on it.did regular lancers come in awd? but he has flames shoot out the tail pipe so it could if had nos in it. but i dont know cause he never opens the hood he tells everyone the latch is broken lol.. well ill just wait for spring and kb his a@% so im not worried i was just a little shocked.

dude, its not a base lancer. it is a lancer EVOLUTION. they didnt make lancers with AWD, nor would a turbo lancer be enough to beat a close-to-stock GT by that much. its an evo, no doubt in my mind. with simple mods like a boost controler, CAI, and exhaust, its a 12 sec car. they trap ~102-104 stock. i lost to stock (supposedly, but i dont think so) EVO the other day from a roll. we have a special closed circuit at our drag strip where they let us roll race

You guys are taken it way to far Seriously we're all adults in here, Why cant we talk about street racing Its not like "I seen some guy was street racing cause he posted it on STANGNET and now Im going to street race and risk losing my life, wife, kids, cars." If you want to street race you can, its your choice, your old enough to know the consequences (sp?) I wont go as far as to say thats it a violation of Freedom of Speech, but damn.

was told if i said street race my thread would be deleted
so thats why the 1 mile track is there.. and when he bought the car i sure didnt look like an evo hell it was the base model cause i rememevr seeing u nder the hood.. thats why i wasnt worried when i ran him last nite,,he just added a styling kit. and whatever else to smoke me

is it just me or does this sound like he is trying to be funny by saying flames shooting out the exhaust from nos and adding a styling kit and whatever else to smoke him. just after reading this for a while it kinda sounds like a bit of sarcasm in there.
