Last question about gears.. I promise..

Ok, Just wanted to ask you guys one last question.. I'm having the installation of my Pro 5.0 3.90 gears done by someone I know.. well.. what all do I need to give this person... he works at a Mechanic shop and that's where it's being done.. should he only need the gears? (Ring & Pinion) And everything else should be a stock swap? I don't know if the Pro 5.0's come with Shims or anything like that but then again I tried to search for these and couldn't find anything.. Thanks a lot.

Give him doughnuts and a 6-pack for starters. Maybe then he will do a good job without the typical gear whine, and extra noise at cruising speeds....

Depending how old your car is you may want to change out the pinion, carrier and wheel bearings. I had that done on my 96 but I had a bad carrier bearing so it was needed. There are kits that provide all of the aformentioned bearings for about $150 if I remember correctly.

It's an 03 with only 2k miles on it so I don't think I'll need new shims/bearings.

2k mile? mine has 3.5k miles when the guy put 4.10 on and all he changed was the ring and pinion.. that is all.. he reuse everything else..
