Late model rims on a classic

Question for anybody who has put late model wheels on classics (specifically Bullitt rims) What size spacer/adapter did you use? What are your front and rear brake setups? I just bought a set of 17" x 8" Bullitts for my 66 coupe for $175 and I'm trying to figure out what size spacer to use. I have granada discs up front and 10x2.5" drums in the rear. Any suggestions and where to get them?? TIA.

I have the 17 by 8 bullits on my 67.

The rears bolted right on, all I needed to do was cut the flange that stuck out into the wheel well off that was part of the axle bump stop.

The fronts required an 1.25 inch spacer to clear the upper A-arms. However I didnt like the way this looked, although the wheels were still inside the wheel wells (barely) it looked like the front wheels stuck out too much. Also with the shelby drop and 1 inch lowering springs I was very worried about tire - fender contact.

I found a shop in town that will narrow allumium wheels. So I had the 2 front wheels narrowed down by 1.25 inches so I could eliminate the spacers. This allowed the 225/45R17's tires I have on the front to fit the wheel MUCH better (the outermost ring of the wheel doesnt stick out) as well as the wheels are tucked inside the fender where they should be.

on my vert i only got .700" spacer with 17X8 cobra rims its lowered and so far no real problems but i had to use 3 bolt upper control arms ( oh and my .700" spacer was a custom made piece)

what backspacing are on your wheels? 5.72" ?

On a stock 66 coupe, you will need 1" spacers on the front and the rear. If you swap in a 9" rear from a 67-68 mustang, you will not need any spacers in the rear because the rear is 2" wider than that of the 66.

I have a 66 with bullit wheels. No spacers on back with a 69 mustang rearend...245/45/17 tires...no rubbing. On front I have a 1" spacer...no rubbing...225/50/17

I just put 18x9" bullits on my 70.

Used a 1" spacer which results in 5" of total backspace (rims are 6" stock).

Could have gotten away with 1/2" spacer (5.5" backspacing).

12sec67 I tried search but there wasn't anything mentioned specific to the Granada front discs.

allcarfan, can you post a pic? Are you still looking for a set of the PBR caliper adapters? I trying to have a couple sets made up in the next couple of weeks if my damn house would just stay together long enough to let me play with my toys when does home ownership get to the "joy of" part????

Late model Bullitts on a 66...

17x8 Bullitts
FRONT 4.75" backspacing, (225/45/17) granada discs, shelby drop and drop springs. No rolled fender and no rubbing...

REAR 4.5" backspacing, (235/45/17) stock 8" rear drums, Mustang Plus 4 and 1/2 leaf springs. No roll, no rub

Ya...what color is that? It looks really good, and the chrome wheels look really good with it.
