Leaded vs. Unleaded

Is there any harm that can come from running leaded (race) gas?

Before I head to the drag strip, I fill up my tank at a local gas station, but somebody told me to try the next level in octane and our local track only sells leaded gas? Just wondering for future reference.

This is what they sell:

-VP110 Leaded
-C12 Leaded
-C14 Leaded
-C16 Leaded
-M1 Methanol
-A5 Performance Unleaded
-VP Nitro available on request

One last thing, any reason to be worried about O2s?

It looks like C12 would be the most reasonable choice for our cars if leaded gas was necessary.

The best all around racing fuel made. Recommended for CRs below 15:1, satisfying the needs of 75% of today's race engines. One of the winningest fuels in racing history, including Modified Tour, GNN, D.I.R.T., Indy Lights, NHRA, AMA as well as other local and national championships across the U.S. and around the world.

I ran AvGas (aviation fuel 108 octane) in my Kawasaki ZX600R and it ran GREAT on it. It also has a nice smell but it coated the tip if my exhaust with a white frosting. On emission restricted vehicles, you have to be careful about running any leaded fuel because of what STANG GT said ... it will really mess up the sensors in newer cars because of the lead particulates in the fuel. It will coat over and mess up most of the sensors that are in contact with the fuel or exhaust. That's why it's mostly just run in race engines and in older vehicles that don't have those types of "sniffer" devices. I agree with ya too ... with most of our engines, the additional octane would just be wasted.
