League Of Legends

It's a fee online game . . . supposed to be the most popular game in the world (seriously). There is actually a couple of colleges that offer scholarships for players because the colleges have "teams". Seriously . . .

It's pretty cool. On the surface, it's a simple 3v3 or 5v5 fighting game where you pick a hero and fight against another team. Each hero has four abilities that you can build as the fight goes on. You get experience and gold during the fights. It's the typical "win fights, get gold, buy gear, and level up skills" type of game. The battles last 15 minutes to an hour, and after the battle, your "hero" loses all the stats and gear. Your ACCOUNT gets experience and points that you can spend on things to boost you regardless of what hero you pick to fight with.

It comes across as really simple, but there are a BUNCH of different heroes with different skills, roles, and all that jazz. And naturally, once you get on up in account level, you can fight in leagues and all that jazz for rankings.

The cool thing is that while it sounds simple, it isn't. There's lots of strategy involved and all. Another cool thing is that it's a limited timeframe i.e. you play one game at a time, and it's OVER. The coolest thing is that . . . IT'S FREE! LOL!

Durden....I love you man...but LOL...really? If you want to jump up from checkers to chess come join me with DOTA ;)

In all seriousness I've played both. Playing DOTA has made me a better LOL player and vice-versa. In all seriousness DOTA has a bit steeper learning curve and there's a bit more involved. The nice thing is in DOTA vs LOL you get full pick of ALL the heroes and its up to you to make the best of it. Also free to play.

Hit me up if you want a hand ;)

LOL! My kid plays DOTA and the expansion (DOTA 2?). Lisa's daughter got him playing it. She and her hubby were really good. I haven't played it, but I might give it a shot.

League is pretty cool . . . and it's free. The community is, eh, okay, I guess. I'm learning when the best times for more skilled players to be available.

Shoot me a friend invite on there. I'm kenpoman. My son is on there, too.
