Will The Shelby GT500 Create A New ‘Legend’ In 2026?

A purported leak from a United Auto Workers group teases a new halo Mustang. The 2026 Shelby GT500 is allegedly powered by the ‘Legend’ engine.

We already have the Mustang GTD, a true track car.
The new GT500 should be more Drag Race oriented.
I would like it to be a S/C Godzilla engine
It should eclipse 1K power
I hope it does not have to drag 4K+ lbs down the track.

The new ZR1 Corvette makes over 1K power on pump gas, no reason Ford can't do the same.

Yeah I saw a video on that zr1 awhile back...measureable thrust on the exhaust Im like wtf?! Time for Ford to step it up

I love the ‘20-23 GT500 so much I hope this new one is a winner and pricing on the older ones drops far enough I can pick one up.

Given that the new GTD is $300K plus, I would expect a new GT500 to be at least 200K

I believe the 3rd gen GT500's were only made in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
