I don't know what to say. I don't see what they did being worth over $300. The message being left on friday, probally won't hear back from them until mon or tue, so keep your temper down. Being cool about things is a good way to get things accomplished, yelling and all just gets tempers off the edge and causes problems.
Did they do a compression check? What were the numbers?
My book says anything OVER 20% is excessive leakage.
The mechanic should have "jotted" down the numbers when he did the test.
I would ask to speak to the mechanic.

Personally I don't know your history, but I'd have to say you bought your car the way it is and have no idea what you are doing or you would have adjusted the valves yourself and borrowed a compression checker from Autozone and done the work yourself.
Would I be mad? I'd probaly be mad at myself for being such a fool. Local speed shops preys on high school kids with daddy's money, especially the import kids that pay 3k to have a junk yard accura motor stuffed in their civic...
BTW, roller rockers are noisy when hot. FMS blues or cobra's, Crane gold or extruded, Comp Cams, Harlon Sharp, I've heard them all make noise.
Pop the upper intake off and take the distributor cap off. Mark each cylinder number where it's spark plug wire goes and pull the valve covers. Loosen all the rockers and adjust the pair where the rotor is pointing at. Wiggle the pushrod up and down as you tighten the rocker. Once you have no play go 1/2 - 3/4 turn and lock it down. Bump the starter till the rotor lines up with the next cylinder's mark and adjust them. Takes about three hours on a N/A car the first time. Readjust the first set a couple times so you can get the hang of it. Moving the pushrod up and down is much surer way to hit zero lash than rotating the pushrod till it stops.

Actually you couldn't be more wrong. I've owned my car since 1995 and the only work I had done by anyone else but myself was the only thing that was F'd up. I assembled everything except the shortblock myself. I did perform a compression check and a few of the cylinders were more than 15 psi off. Hence the leakdown test to isolate where it was going.
Do you know the difference between a compression check and a leakdown test? obviously not...

Thanks, but even if I diddn't know how to adjust them myself your comments aren't welcome. Also when your blower car only runs a couple mph faster than my POS it's probably a good sign that maybe you need my advice
