two parts...
1. Car smells of gas bad and I noticed puddle in spare tire storage once. I heard it’s the grommet but doesn’t appear to be leaking there. Any chance it’s elsewhere? If not how bad is grommet change?

2. My convertible top separated from rear window a little, wondered what glue to use to reattach it.

Any input is appreciated

The filler neck grommet isn't too bad and can be a major cause of gas fumes. You have to drop the tank to do at least the filler neck grommet. The leak inside of your spare tire is something to investigate as well. There is a truck floor seal that could be bad as well on the filler tube.

Good luck on that. My experience with convertible tops says that it's leaking because the fabric has worn out from repeated bending right at the corner of the glass. Because the fiber has lost it's strength the glass has become detached.

When I encountered this issue and researched I attempted multiple times a DIY repair. Fail. Ended up having the rear windscreen part of the top replaced.

Regarding the filler neck. IF your Mustang has a plastic rock shield around the filler neck it may have rusted out under the plastic. FWIIW the Mustang's gas tank is one of the easier ones for the DIY'er to drop. It does make the job easier for the tank to be as nearly empty as possible.

WHere is the trunk floor seal? Is it just a grommet? And that leads directly into the gas tank?

My window is only separating a few incxhes from adhesive coming off should be fixable

Just wondering. Is it gas or water in the trunk?

I guess I assumed it was water in the trunk but the car smelled of gas.

It might also help if you mentioned the model year of your car.

This could very likely be the culprit - it was a common problem on 90-96 GM B-bodies & they would get a strong gas smell inside the cabin.
