leaning towards K Bell, stock internals ok ?

This question is for all those with superchargers. I am considering
going with the Kenne Bell supercharger.(not sure if 6psi or 9) My
question is are the stock internals strong enough to handle the
everyday beating the engine is now going to be taking. I understand
the connecting rods, pistons, etc. are cast, not forged. I am a little
weary that they will be able to take the abuse. I have been told that
the stock engine is good up until 500hp, is that true. Have you who
have superchargers worried about this? My car now has 36,000 miles
with 1 year left until it is paid off, and hope to keep it for many more
years. Any info would be great. Thanx.

420rwhp to 430rwhp is pushing it , 9lb kit would put you right at the threshold of the engine . but with a safe conservative tune you can stay safe and reliable .

check in with modularfordpowerhouse.com AKA T&J performance... i believe they are now working on or already have an adaptive tune for the KB...

oh

id wouldnt run anything over 400 RWHP with the stock block.. all my friends have blown there engines and they all had dyno tunes.. 350 RWHP is has high as id go.. iv seen them blow..

Thanx for the info. Sounds like if i am not going to beef up the internals,
The 6psi set-up is the one to go with. I am probably looking at around
340-350hp at that boost level. Sounds good to me !!!!

this summer i'll be running a magnacharger at 9lbs on stock internals and it'll be aftercooled. i will be going for about 400rwhp and i think i will be just fine. if you get a good tune you can run 400 at the wheels just be smart about it.

deadlurker is running 398rwhp and 370ish rwtq on the stock block... tuned by T&J.... its all about the TUNE.

There are a lot of guys running more than 350 on the stock block. It is all in the tune.

I'm running at 398 rwhp with the power mode and 418 with the shootout mode (KB tune). The KB kit was designed for stock motors...that's the beuty of it. However, if you abuse your car it wont last long. You need to take care of your car like it were your baby. The stock block should well handle up to 450 rwhp. Anything beyond that is considered pushing the envelope and it would be just a matter of time for the engine to break.

KB has sold many of these kits and they seem to be very careful and thorough with the tunes that they make. They say that the Mustang can handle the power and I believe them. Their manual says that they do not recommend anything over 12psi with a stock block. If I ever did anything to add more power to mine I would rebuild the engine first.

I would think the 9psi intercooled kit would be safe at around 400rwhp on a stock block, with a safe tune. Anymore psi or power, and you taking a big chance.

Get the 6 lb kit , I wanna see some numbers on them to compare with my vortech because I almost went the KB route . If you want more power then you can upgrade . Anybody seen numbers on a 6 other than KBs website ??

yeah CLAIM is a big word when it comes to real HP , I think they might do better with other mods and a custom tune . Just wanna see someone exploit this option and see if it can lay down some real (360-380 rwhp ) numbers before changing pullies and adding an intercooler .
