Should I paint the timing cover or leave it natural? Anyone clean there's up and use it unpainted?

I would tape off the sealing surfaces. And I am not sure about having paint in the coolant flowing areas. But on the visible areas, I would like the look of engine enamel over oxidized aluminum.
