Leaving for Track in 20min! Guess E.T. Game :)

His car doesnt peak @ 6100. It peaks 5400ish and kinda flatlines from 5k-5500. I have his graph saved on my computer. Seems like I know his car better than him lol. I even hold its best time slip and I did it on his dr's :D I told him what he needs to do, if he doesn't listen I told him to have fun in the 13's :)

Technically the clock doesn't start until the front wheels pass all the way thru the 2nd starting line beam. This is why a car can sometimes trap a higher mph when using a shallow stage and a better e.t. with a deep stage. The logic behind this is that when deep staging, the track is shortened by a specific length dictated by the tire and when shallow staged the car actually has a slight amount of momentum built before the tire completely crosses the beam and it is allowed to make contact with the other side of the lane, therefore allowing a rolling start, so to speak, without triggering the time clock :nice: Naturally a higher horsepower vehicle will be better equipped to maximize these small advantages compared to that of a mildly built street car.

What the entire combo?

His combo is a new ford 302 short, afr 165's milled to about 56cc, rpm intake, fti cam, longtubes, 373's, 24's, c&l 76mm and he was on et streets. We'll see what happens after he does his new 255 fuel pump. I doubt its the pump but it may help, I still say it NEEDS 30's, pro m 80 and a chip..

I hope you find the problem. I'm having the same problem with my combo not running nearly what it should. Mine seems to be inconsistant, one pass 107mph other passes 101mph with no changes. I average 104mph lately. I haven't been able to find the problem after a whole year. Let me know what you find.

isnt 210 degrees kinda hot? it was like no more than 60* temp outside the last few days. the motor really should be cold at that temp unless your hot-lapping it---which would hurt ETs too!
i would say 12.80s @ 106 mph would be about right.

as rick said, you need more fuel. the 24s are good till like 350 hp im not mistaken, you just need a different pump.

Garantee the pump isn't his problem as it ran low 13's @ 106mph with that pump on his old shortblock. The 255 he bought 'could' help, but its NOT the problem. 24's are not enough unless he chooses to operate them on an unsafe duty cycle. 30's are what he needs along w/ a good pro m 80mm maf and a chip to finalize everything. Thats pathetic if his milled afr/fti/rpm combop is only good for 12.8's @ 106 on slicks. I was faster than that untuned in the summer heat on 16" nitto's. His car, once he takes my advice, should run low 12's @ 110+ on et streets, even if I have to drive it. The 'better' hci combo's need 30's to be safe IMO..

this says he doesnt need the 30s yet. he needs a tuning and his 75mm MAF is going to be sufficent. there are guys with more HP than him runnin that same 75mm bullet.
no doubt that he (or you) can run that low 12s on his car. i just said that to be optimistic----not to be pecimistic.

also, were you hot-lappin it?

i don't think that the injectors are the problem either. you would also benefit from having a better fuel pump, if not for performance, for the peice of mind because you might be leaning out on top, but i don't think it would hold you back that much. i could be wrong though.

how long ago did you run the car on the dyno? have you changed anything since then?

dyno was on 2/10/04 and I went to track 3/7/04.....no engine mods in that time, all I did was put in some auto-meters' which work fine :), I will investigate plugs...lean is white correct? Fuel pump is going in tonight :nice:

how come the people that ran the dyno didn't tell you that were running lean on the top end then? or didn't they check the air fuel ratio?
