LED taillights in a 67??

I seem to remember someone working on a set of LED sequential tail lights for a 67 using the stock housing and dividing it in to three, I think? ....anybody know what I'm talking about?

I hate to hi-jack the thread, but Cheapy, you still making the sequential stuff? I am restomodding the crap out of my 70 Mach, and I added the shelby tailpanel, and lights. I want them to do the sequencing thing...hook me up?

Errr...guess those aren't LEDs but they are sequential. The photo hides the brains portion, no doubt to prevent home-fabbers.

Yeah, but some of those LEDs that twist into a regular socket would work, wouldn't they?

no. tried that. the bulbs wolud be bright if they were shining through a more transparent tailight lens. The light they give off is bright, but it's too sharp, and the LED is just too small to light up Shelby lenses much at all. Regular stock bulbs lit up my lenses 10 times better.

Edbert - Those are the ones i was looking at but they are a little pricey..I dont think it would be very hard to make the three bulb set up but i dont know much about the sequential aspect of it ....and of course LED would be nice but I know nothing about making a board for it ..maybe the plug ins?

chepsk8 - would your sequential kit work on that set up for a normal 67?

68 & 00 GT - Did you use the LED plug ins on shelby/cougar lenses or on standard 67 equip? I heard they worked well for others in the regular tail's

I think i recall seeing that somewhere else, but cannot remember.

I'm working on a three compartment housing on a junkyard piece.
Do you think/have you tried the plug in LED replacement bulbs for 1157's with the sequentials?

As long as you don't have a car with the original sequential set-up, you can just use the flasher and control module...

Same with the guys who want to make their own three socket housings...

I came really close to getting rearended last week and that was enough for me to invest in some better lights. I went with Dallas Mustang's LED's. Once they come in, I will take some pictures to show the difference. I know they were pricey but the lady that almost hit me was on a cell phone and I think putting on her makeup at the same time. I think there are too many driver distractions and it will be worth the cost.

If safety is your primary concern you should also look into a 3rd center mounted light as well. They look like crap (at least the ones I have seen look like JC Whitney rejects) but they do work, many drivers are so used to seeing them.

not a bad idea at all...at one time i had thought about molding one into the package tray behind the seat so it wouldnt look like some crappy auotzone bolt on, but that was put on the back burner...another thought with no time to pursue

I was thinking about putting one on the back of my rollbar. Since my car will never be outside during inclement weather, the top will always be down. I just can't find a way to do it that wont look ghetto.
