Ok, I was browsing Ebay and came across this ad: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967...oryZ6236QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Basically, you are bidding on a downpayment for these guys to build you an eleanor. The final price is $125k-$175k. Who would thunk it??

I saw another ad on there the other day that said....bring us your 67-68 mustang and we will turn it into an eleanor for a mere $70k

What is wrong with these people?

Sounds like they're soliciting a buyer to foot the bill for building the car. It ensures they get their money on the sale of the car. You end up paying an inflated premium for a 67 stang that would have been cheaper for the customer to buy a car and get it built. You're paying for a 67 mustang "elanor clone" that is still just a 67 mustang without the elanor stuff. Then you pay them more to make it an elanor clone. Nice racket. :nonono:

If there is somebody willing to spend that sort of money... there will be somebody willing to charge it. I don't blame the people that are building these things... I think it's more on the consumer but as long as they are happy, who is to argue. The type of people that buy them are in a different league than the typical blue collar worker. I imagine they are tired of having the same Ferrari as their neighbor type. I am in no means raggin on them or Ferrari. By all means they worked very hard and made some risky but wise choices to get there to afford their toys and lifestyle but that is the crowd that the prebuilt Eleanors are for.
