Ok recently ive been hearing the most annoying exhaust leak coming from my passenger side muffler. Upon inspection, the muffler is bulged/swollen on the part facing the front of the car, if you put your hand around the muffler while the car is running you can feel exhaust seeping out....there is also black soot around the areas where it leaks, and trails of that look like black liquid coming from the leaks..... First of all i would like to know what happened here? The car runs fine, the leak disappears when you bring the RPMs off idle.....Ideas on new mufflers? I want to stick with the same piping just swap the mufflers. I want something that wont compromise power (torque), loud, and not expensive.. I was in checker and noticed there glasspack cherry bombs....any thoughts? pros/cons of mufflers out there? prices? Thanks guys

Not sure about you're leak but I think you'd be happier with a turbo muffler rather than a glasspack.

i have purple hornies, i.e type of glass pack from header strait to glasspack...sounds like a top fuel dragster, no extra pipes or nothing, its insanely loud

I recommend the Flowmaster Delta-Flow 50's. Great sound!

Go figure on this, but I got my mufflers from Midas. I just cut off the resonators and I have a nice deep gurgle that isn't mind numbing. I'd say gauge your sound on your driving habits. Mine is a daily, so I don't want to sound like a Cessna when I pull into the parking lot.

YMMV.

I can't stand flowmasters, they are crap.

Try Borla or Magnaflow.

to each there own, everyone has diffrent opinions about mufflers asking which you should use is such a loaded question. your better off doing some research and listening to sound clips to decide for yourself what you think will fit your price range and the sound you want to acheive.

you could always try to soundproof the hell out of your car with some dynamat, so that it'll still sound like a top fuel dragster outside but inside will be much tamer sounding. who knows how well that'd work, but it's worth a shot i think

Rust--If memory serves, and it rarely does, that dyna mat stuff is pretty pricey. Still, it might be worth it for sound and heat reduction.

if you want loud and cheap, dynomax race magnums.. AKA bullets.. $35 a piece or less at summit..

seems you are correct there. dynamat sure is a bit pricey, but there are alternatives as well.
secondskin, edead, fatmat. those are the most commonly used ones i saw around this forum. might be a good idea to check some of them out incase you still want the exterior sound from your mufflers, but would like to keep the interior a little quieter.

i have flows on my stang and i love them. on my truck i have midas brand flowmasters knock offs and they sound great too. but maybe it just the 550hp that sounds soo good.

Ok, thanks for all the opinions...ive heard sound clips from flowmaster, dynomax, and magnaflow and they all sound pretty good......My price range is basically around 50-75 dollars per muffler. I dont want to compromise any performance with the new mufflers, with a loss of back pressure.....Does anyone have sound clips of their stangs? I will be reusing my current piping right now, which is basically an 2 1/2 H pipe. reduced to 2'' after....

The Flowmaster 40 series..... Flowmaster claims that the Delta flow 40 series will out perform the original 40 series, but has less of an exhaust note... I like the sound of the original but dont want to lose my power!
