Lifespan of the 4.6 2v, daily driven, moderately beaten on?

Heh, I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea how well the 4.6 holds up over time with a trip or two to 5,500 every other day or so. I have 57k on mine right now, regularly maintenanced. Is 100k too much to ask before things start breaking? It's going to be a bolt on only car.

if you perform the scheduled maintenance you'll be just fine to over 100k

On my old stang I had over 106K on it. I took care of it and babied the car. I drove that thing aggressively and had a heavy foot and the car performed great. Did scheduled maintinence and changed the oil every 2K miles. That they was still going strong the day I sold it!

We put almost 40,000 miles on our 2000 Gt last year. The car has about 80,000 on it now. The only thing it has needed so far has been 2 IAC valves. Its our road trip can but it has made a few trips down the quarter mile and gets driven hard upon occasion. The oil gets changed every 3000 miles with synthetic and I expect it will last us at least 150,000 miles.

When we first bought it we hardly drove it but now that our other car is my cobra the GT gets the road trip and daily driver abuse.

Man I wish I had a beater for a daily driver. Maybe I should look for one.

106K miles on mine. Daily driven. I dog the hell out of this machine. Has held up great. Only thing that needed attention was the IAC motor, and a bad injector.

Still runs like a top.

i had 148 on my old 98gt-and it saw 5500+ on a regular occasion for the 3 1/2 yrs i had it. still ran strong til the day i sold it. no probs at all.

id guess properly maintained 200k is easily acheivable. Your not going to toast these engines unless they have not been maintained and have been severly beat on.

there are alot of 4.6L's out there with 150,000+ miles on them. as long as you don't do some serious modding, you will be fine.
