well i have a collapsed lifter and nows time that i get it outta here

im getting ready to order new pr's, rr's and obviously the lifters

anything particular to look for and anything to stay away from??
tips and pointers are very appreciated whether about the part selection or the head and intake removal and install

btw what size are our pr's? i keep seeing different sizes and thicknesses...not sure which ones are the ones for our cars? As far as the length, the stockers worked fine for me till now so i guess ill stay with the stock length. Will the RR's or the lifters change the necessary length of the pushrod or are they all the same standard size?
Part #'s would be great ! (help me with gasket choices also)

PS- im only looking at the 1.6 rr's since i dont want to max out my v.springs (tfs v.spring kit good to .542")- just not a fan of valve float

THANKS in advance !!!

I would just call Summit or Jegs and ask to talk to the tech department. Comp Cams makes good quality parts. You can call them direclty too. I would recommend going to a factory length hardened pushrod. The hardened pushrods are more expensive, but they are a must if you ever decide to go to stud mount rockers. It's one less thing you have to buy again if you choose to do any other mods to the engine in the future.

yea hardened is a definte.
I actually saw a set of hardened pr's in the summt catalog (comp cam part) for under $50 for a set of 16 so i think ill go with that.

So my selection of rockers and lifters wont affect the length of the rod?

the rockers i feel arent a biggie to pick...as long as they are the correct ratio and pedestal mount i should be ok right?
now as far as lifters, thats something i have no idea how to pick out.....

As long as the lifters are factory replacement, it will be fine. The rockers shouldn't be an issue either. Most of the different length pushrods are designed for aftermarket heads that have different valve angles and stuff.

It wouldn't hurt to paint the top of a valve and check ......
Position and distance of roller travel

Better to be safe than sorry

I think Comp Cams has the best reputation on that sort of stuff. I would just stay away from the generic stuff, it's probably made in China. I think just about all the aftermarket rockers are pretty good quality. I'm running Dove rockers with oem lifters, and I can't even remember where my pushrods came from. I don't think it matters too much as long as you buy from one of the big manufactures i.e. motorsport, crane, comp cams.

Ok, those are flat tappet lifters, you need roller lifters for your car. Just get original equipment. Ford Racing M-6500-R302 - Ford Racing Hydraulic Roller Lifters - summitracing.com They seem to be the most affordable, and they work fine. You can mix and match brands, that's not a problem. I would just call tech support at Summit or Jegs and tell them what you need. They will know exactly what to sell you.

i actually did earlier and ironically enough they suggested the very lifters you mentioned above and yea im getting them.
One thing thats really bugging me is just how expensive the RR's are and how small the selection is for the pedestal mounts.

if anyone comes across a good deal for the 1.6's please let me know

what do you guys think of the video in my last post?
lifter right?
