To summarize, I threw a new camshaft in my 331 Dart sportsman block (8.2 deck). I noticed that when turning the engine over, the dogbones were coming off their seats. I measured how much they were lifting and got around .085". The cam has .357/.347" lobe lift, which is not an obscene amount. The cam I took out had .330/.335" lobe lift, so I assume the dogbones were lifting with that setup too.

I assume the dogbones lifting is not a good thing. The obvious thing to do would be to replace the stock-style lifters with link-bar lifters. Is this the ONLY way to remedy this issue? I am not excited at all about taking the heads off the block, not to mention the $500+ for new lifters. I read that explorer gt40p composite retainers may be a solution. Anyone have experience with this?

I'm not trying to cut corners, just exploring my options. I'll do what I need to in order to make the setup safe. The last thing I want is a rotated lifter.

Ive seen that as well, a small amount will not cause any issues.

Ford Racing Lifters? What lobes are on the cam, pm the profile numbers.
