Light steering feel?

The steering wheel feels lighter than normal lately, it's really easy to turn. However it doesn't really have much "play", if you turn the wheel slightly, the car does turn. But it requires very little effort to turn. Could something be loose in the steering linkage or something? The car's only got about 5,500 miles on it.

Nothing is loose, you're just getting used to it. I feel the same way about my 07 with 5500 miles on it. The steering feel is just way too over-boosted. The rental Focus I had had much more effort in the steering and felt much better then my Mustang.

If you know any alignment tech that really knows his stuff, ask him if he can increase the caster on your front suspension... higher caster will give you a stiffer off center steering feel...which means better high speed stability.

I am not sure if it can be done though without totally messing up the camber (or if the macpherson strut suspension allows this type of adjustment).

Caster is not adjustable, unless you want to wreck the strut tower by slotting it where the strut mount it bolted.

Strange Development sells new front control arm bushings. they come with shims to set it to stock caster, or add additional caster. so you can adjust the caster, just takes aftermarket parts. i believe the BMR adjustable control arms can also adjust caster.
