light wiring!

Ok let me start by sayin i HATE wireing but i seem to be pretty good at it once i start on it!!! Anyways so i got my car awhile back and the other day i was crawling under it and i seen a black wire zip tied all the way back to my hatch. So i got to lookin at it and turns out the ppl that had it before me ran a jumper wire from my headlights back to my tail lights. so i unhooked it and just as i suspected when you turn on the headlights the tail lights dont work so i was wondering if any one has a good wireing diagram of how its supposed to be wired, or what wire supplies power to them and maybe its just unhooked? I HATE PPL sometimes. Anyways thanks for the help!!!

When asking for wiring diagrams, it's helpful to tell people what year and Make of car one has.

The tail lights should be tied into the parking light circuit, not the headlight circuit. On most aero foxes, the parking light wire is brown in the driver's kick panel. You could also access it at the back of the headlight switch.

lol i got so irritated just thinkin about the wireing i forgot about the basics!! lol but its a 91 gt. and the light brown wire is the one im lookin for? Does it tie into any other wireing? lol im not excited about this at all!!! but now it kinda makes me wonder if maybe thats y my fuel gauge doesnt work? anyways ill start looking

The parking light wire is very easy to find at the headlight switch. It's hit or miss finding it in the kick panel. If you find the wire you think it is, put a test light on the wire and see if the wire goes hot when the parking lights are turned on.
If you find it at the headlight switch, be sure you don't tap into the dimmer circuit (which also comes on with the parking lights). Again, test the wire, but this time also run the dimmer up and down. If your test light dims, you are on the dimmer circuit (wrong one).

Do your license plate lights function? Brake lights?

did a lil more diggin checked my fuses and there all good. also disconnected the jumper wire and the brake lights did work and idk about the license plate lights cause they could just be burned out. ill keep looking. i just got a new speedo cable so im waiting on it before i get back in to the dash. any ways thanks for the ideas and if you have anymore let me know thanks
