this is on a 93 gt 5.0

is anyone running a light MAF on there 5.0 ? if you have one can you tell me how it is wired up , which wire goes to which ? I had to get a new clip from a newer stang so I would be able to use the lighting maf. The stock 5.0 clip has 4 wires and the lighting has 6. and the colors do not match.... someone please help , pics would be great !! southernstang@sbcglobal.net

I got mine from (emustangparts) on ebay and they also had the pig tail to splice into the factory harness. The original MAF for the 5.0 has 4 wires labeled A,B,C,D. On my lightning MAF the wires that are labled A,B,C,D, are the four center wires of the 6. They also run in the same order. When splicing the wires together make sure you solder the connections and seal them up with heat shrink. I had a friend who just did the but splice and after about a year he started having prob's because of corrosion in the splice not sending the proper voltages to the ECU. After he did it the right way the problems went away. One more thing, if you use the new MAF you will need a way for your ECU to reconize the new MAF. Also these meters arent calibrated for injector size like a C&L or Pro-M. Good luck

If you are looking at the MAF harness with the wires going away from you, stock 4 wire goes A, B, C, D from left to right. Looking at the LMAF harness (6 wire) in the same orientation it will go X, A, B, C, D, X. Don't use the slots I labeled 'X'. So essentially wires go in the same orientation, but don't use the 2 outside spots. Oh and the LMAF is for 42lb/hr+ injectors. Hope this helps.

southernstang - you realize you have to load the transfer function of the Lightning unit into your ecu using a twEECer or chip, right? You can't just wire it into your existing harness and have it work properly...

LMAF is not calibrated for 42s. It's not calibrated for use with our EEC-IV at all. Using one requires a custome tune. It's the computer that is setup to use that meter in combination with 42s on the Lightning.

Edit: Mike beat me to it.

As Daggar alludes to - once the transfer function is loaded into the ecu so the ecu and maf are literally 'on the same page', you then pull up the screen which allows you to select the injector size you're gonna run. You TELL the ecu what injectors you're running via the twEECer or chip -- and it will make the appropriate calculations on pulse width.
