Hi Guys

I have a 69 Mustang and the interior lighting isn't the greatest because there
is no dome light. It has the rear quater lights and the under dash lights.
I bought a Rearview mirror off Ebay that is a Newer Cobra mirror with combination map light & dome light. It has 3 Wires, ground, Full time Power
which is for the map lights and door trigger wire. I tested the lights and they
work, but the door trigger light wire works when it is connected to ground.
I figured it would work when connected to positive when the door is open the
power would activate it and come on. **Question: How am Im going to
connect or splice this into my interior lights to make it come on when the the
doors are open? Thanks for the input

You could use the door switch power to activate a relay that would then ground the map light set up. Standard relay from any auto parts should work.

Thats the fastest and easiest solution. I assume the 69 door switch toggles 12 volts and not ground. If your mirror needs a ground, you will need to switch it with a relay. The door switch will activate the relay coil. The relay contacts will have the mirror light wire on one side and ground on the other. It can go right under the dash.
