Lightning 90mm MAF and Cold Air for 94/95 5.0

Has anyone tried running the 90mm lightning MAF on their 94/95 5.0? Did you notice any benefit over a stock MAF or a Pro-M unit? I have a tweeker, so I can put in the characteristic, but I'm looking for someone who might have already worked through the usual problems that can arise.

Also, any recomendations for a compatable cold air system? I noticed that the market for 5.0 SN95's is lacking in this area, and any suggestions before I start fabricating one from scratch would be helpful.

Since you got the Tweecer ... its dooable for you.

You give no combo info so I could not say if that maf would be better for you than say a ProM 80 which would be kind of a close comparison.

Don 95Vert has lots of info so use his name.

On the cai ... I just made mine.

Thanks for the info. My car is monstly stock, but I'm planning on building a motor next year - n/a about 330-360 hp non stroker. I already have both meters, a lightning and an 80mm Pro-M (long style). The Pro-M will mate up to the stock zip tube easily, but the stock tube is ugly and I can't find a good solution to go cold air for the pro-m sensor.

The lightning sensor would be nice to use since they are cheap (relatively speaking), but it would be near 100% fabrication to make it work.

My current car is a stock Cobra with headers/exhaust. It probably won't get close to using the full range of either sensor. However, I only want to do this setup once and leave a lot of room to grow.

I would not let rigging up something home made out of pvc or metal truck exhaust pipe stop me from doing what I wanted to do.

Either method is pretty straight forward with a little thought and creativity.

Of course ... the metal pipe method is gonna require welding where the pvc does not.

I've seen some of the pvc setups painted that look pretty good.

I went with the pvc/local hardware store coupler method to keep things simple.

I could have made it look a lot better with different couplers but its fine for the time being.

They have some decent cold air kits on Ebay. I got mine it has 3.5" polished aluminum tubing and a nice sized air cleaner for $45 to my door. I had to drill some new holes on the plate that seals against the fender but for $45 i was pleased.

I am curious about this too. I bought the lightening maf and adapter and wondering whaat gains I might make?

I made my cai out of pvc also, then i fabbed one from metal, I have seen them on ebay for 50-70 dollars, If you engine is anywhere near stock your not going to notice any difference. (94 -95 cars came with a 65 or 70 mm mass air meter already.. Until you put your new engine in it may just eb a headache to you..

Stock Combos with a 90mm might not gain anything with a swap if anything you might exp, a drivability problem or even a loss of power.
