I was looking into getting some new lights for my 02 GT because the stock ones are a little dim. Those Xenon lights are looking nice and I was wondering if anyone had heard anything good/bad about them. I was told that I would have to upgrade my wiring harness because the brighter bulbs will melt the harness, is there any truth to this? Also, where would be a good website to price such bulbs?

I'm sure that you would have to use a different harness. My buddy has a jeep and when he just installed the bulbs it worked fine for like a month, but then it melted and he had to replace the harness with the upgraded one. Since then, its been about 3months, he has had no prob.

Depends on which bulbs you get. If you go to www.showparts.com they have a nice kit for the mustang which includes 2 Xenon bulbs for the headlights and foglights for 28 bucks. A pretty good deal

My friend had PIAA's in his Grand Am then went to Silverstar's. He said the Silverstar's were brighter, didn't cost $40 a bulb, and didn't break every month. PIAA

Silverstar's are stock wattage.

My Silver Stars have been replaced two times withing 4 months. No, I didn't touch the bulb with my fingers. They have not been all that either, but everytime they blow I contact Silvania and they send me a replacement as soon as I send them the defective bulb!

not a flame , just a question.
why do you want brighter lights, I have no problem wit hstock. Is it for you to see better oer do some do this for cosmetic reasons?
I have clears on the front and installed chrome turn sig. bulbs for cosmetic reasons, but didn't change headlight bulbs.

I bought these lights: http://www.showparts.com/product_info.php/products_id/227?osCsid=cf38fb48df4b71db8e93eb11fdfb9e4e

I had them in my car for roughly 6 months. One day I was driving home at night and all of a sudden none of my lights worked. No Head or Fog lights at all. When I got home I took out one bulb and noticed that the harness was melted. Then I took out the other and noticed the same thing. Took it into Ford a couple of days later, and they told me that you need to upgrade to a different harness voltage. They replaced both of mine under warrenty. Do yourselves a favour, if you upgrade your lights, upgrade your harnesses. An electrical fire is far more expensive then a higher voltage harness!

My Silverstars are plenty bright and they're stock wattage. My headlights have been great for the past 2 years, my fogs just died. I think it was from driving through NY though, freaking pot holes everywhere. I haven't called Sylvania yet but I'm pretty sure they'll replace them for free.

Oh, I just got an email from Sylvania today (I bought my fogs online through them)

$5 rebate on a pair of fog/head/signal lights.
