Lightweight Fog Light Mounting?

I was wondering if anyone devised a way to get rid of the 15lbs of GT fog light bracketry and still have foglights. I know I can get rid of the long slat in the middle, but those cast iron brackets are heavy still. Anybody know of different way to mount them?

Make it out of Aluminum, it will serve the same purpose.

That was my first thought, I'd love to do that, but I dont have a cnc machine.
I thought about hacking up my street sign, its kind of light and sturdy.

Ttop88 fabbed up about 30 sets of all aluminum factory replacements. Pm him and get a price. The two together weigh less than a pound. And fit nicely. They look factory.

I've talked to a few guys who have took the heavy bracket off and drilled a hole in the actual bumper(the white thing under the bumper cover) and mounted the fogs there. Everyone says it looks factory, but I personally havent done it.

I have brackets. Like Lee said, less that a pound. They look like the factory bracket but are made of .125 aluminum. Used them on this car.

Hrmm...I hadn't thought of that. Sounds like a decent weight saving alternative.

15 pounds off the nose is pretty good. Thats more than a hood swap.

I just drill holes in the fiber glass bumper and mounted them to it, works fine for me.

Got bored on afternoon and did this:

Saved a few pounds. The brackets are 1/4 steel! I can't believe Ford made them that thick.

You need the center piece, the bottom of the rubber bumper cover bolts to it, otherwise it will flap around. I cut out the center and saved another few pounds.

I thought about cutting holes in them too, I dont think you need that support bar, the Cobra R didnt have it.

The Cobra-R didn't have foglights. It is there more to support the fogs than the bumper.

I did not weight them, but it could not be more than 5 lbs lighter. Every little bit helps though. There has to be some way to support the bottom of the bumper cover, otherwise it would just sag. There are four bolts that go through the cover into the center brace. I like to see how it's done on the Cobra R.
