Is this a real pain in the ass? A local Mustang Speed Shop quoted me $350 for parts and installation. Is that a decent price?

I heard that bending the lines is a pain and if you screw it up (crimp them too much) you'll have to buy new ones.

What do you giys think it'll take someone whose never done it before to do it themselves? Thanks.

The problem is doing the double flares on the lines, since you will probably have to cut and reflare them. They are hard to get just right until you've had some practice. And use a large socket or tubing bender to bend the lines around to keep from crimping them. FWIW, you could certainly get the parts and install them for probably less than $100 if you use one of the less expensive ones. A friend installs the Biondo units. Here is a couple of pics of his:

Well, I know the shop was providing the Hurst line lock ($110) from Summit. Also, the lines and fittings (about $50). Basically they're charging me $200 for labor.

That seems like a lot for maybe 4 hours worth of work. What else is there besides the lines, installing the unit, LED and switch? Also, bleeding the brakes.

The Biondo unit sells for $39.99 on sale, reg $49.99 and the wiring kit is $15.99. The fittings and such shouldn't be more than a few bucks, maybe $20-30 at the most. Plus he used a relay on it.

Here is their info, the LL is towards the bottom if it doesn't scroll you down. Summit should also have them.

Here is a thread with a detailed list of parts:

The Hurst kit may have most of the fittings and such, I haven't seen it, but if you don't mind looking for the right parts, you can save some more money.

Good luck!

I did more reading, and for the Biondo unit, the hardest part to find is the "T" fitting to combine the two front lines. The Hurst I believe has multiple outlets, so you can plumb each of the front lines to it's own output. Just something to consider.
