I need opinions on the $699 cast piston shortblocks from LMR and mustangs unlimited. I have a 1990 lx convertible and It will be a daily driver. It will never see nitrous or boost and my budget is real tight. I just want a toruqy 306 with mild mods. Do you guys think this block is worth it. Mods will be thumper ported E7s with trickflow or e303 cam, Professional products intake, power pipe, 64 or 70mm throttle body, 73mm mass air meter, 3.73 gears, unequal length headers and other bolt-ons!!

If you truly never plan to boost or spray it, it will probably fine. Note I have never used one, but I would give it a shot if I planned to do a stock'ish rebuild that wasn't aimed towards performance.

Thanks! I also have a 1997 ford explorer block that has a spun rod bearing my Uncle said that it ran better than the one he replaced it with, but when I removed the heads and the intake it was all sludged up and a rebuild would cost me to much since the rest of my budget was takin by my 1995 suburban transmission rebuild $1400 bucks!!!

for a tight budget, it looks great, you probably couldn't do a budget rebuild for that after buying the parts and getting the machining done

What do you guys think about the thumper e7 heads, I have heard people making good power with these heads, and I thought they would be good for what I am doing plus they are only $600 or $1100 if you get the combo!!

dude!! you can get a set of aluminum heads for that!! Ive had about every set of heads there is for a sbf. slightly ported gt40p's out flow them, for $1100 you can get a set of E street heads, and get a real cam, that will make more power, and generally be more efficient. the E cam is OLD, get something better. if you want a decent dd to drive, keep the stock cam, with the aluminum heads and the typhoon intake. it will idle perfect, get great mileage, and have manners..

Thanks, I looked at those heads yesterday and decided I would go with the edelbrock perfomer aluminum heads.

300hp shouldn't be a problem with the edelbrock heads and the professional products intake as long as u get an aftermarket cam
