i just installed new main and rod bearings in my 5.0 and installed a gear drive, after getting the engine installed back in the car it will not spin over with starter or breaker bar! i even have the plugs out. has anyone had a problem with a gear drive locking up a engine?? it was a pain to get it to fit and the directions sucked on it. any ideas?? i am fresh out and i really do not want to take the engine back out

if you had that much trouble with the gear drive, you should remove the gear drive and see if the crankshaft will rotate.
you dont have to remove the engine to do that.
if the crank rotates, put your old timing chain back on and try to rotate the engine by hand again.
if it rotates, send that gear drive back for a refund.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

put stock timing gear back on, still takes a act of god to get it to spin over, even with plugs out. the flex plate seems to be rubbing on the spacer between the trans and block, just before putting the bearings in the engine the trans blew. i think something is messed up on back end. driving me nuts!

did you try rotating the engine before you put it back in? It's always good to check those kinds of things before you reinstall the motor, it's easy to fix those issues while the motor is still on the stand!
