Loctite?

How do you get a nut off a bolt that had loctite put on the threads,
without destroying the nut or the bolt?

Take it to a shop and hopefully they will have the right tool for the job. That or find the company that made the bolt(which is pretty hard to do). Any other ideas I have heard involve things that can possibly damage the nut.

Like what kind of tool are you talking about?

What are the other ways to get it off? Destroying the nut is ok..... i guess But i would like to be able to reuse the bolt.

Not sure what type of locktight it is, but usally heat will free it up.

Im pretty sure its Loctite #271

Ditto. Use it all the time at work, and it comes apart when needed. Just don't try it with channel locks.

If you heat up the loctite with a propane torch or a lighter, then use 6 point sockets to unscrew it, you will not screw up your bolt or nuts.

You can't screw up the bolt or nut even without using heat. It's just glue people, it's not welded. Doesn't take a lot to keep a nut from unscrewing in the majority of cases, just a little something to stick them together, that's all Loctite is.

I used Loctite on a bicycle rack bolt once. When I sold the car, I tried to remove the rack on the rear bumper. The nut didn't want to break free, even with a box wrench and cheater pipe, but the bumper did bend! Be careful

I've used it on rocker studs, and they came off with just a little more effort than without it.
