I'm surprised to see quite a few long-time 2.3 members in here still. About 3-5 years ago, I spent a lot of time on here accumulating most of my posts. About 3 years ago, it seemed like the amount of tech and worth while posts went down the toilet and I stopped posting so much here as I transitioned to turboford. It seems a bit better in here these days, so I thought I'd give an update. A bit long though.

Some of you older members may remember my old 88lx. I got it in the fall of 1999, bone stock with 56k miles. She used to be rust free and look very nice. Here is picture from 2004:

She's sat outside for the last 10 years and weather has hit her hard, along with the tree that got in my way in 2005. The paint is flaking off badly and I've got some rust around the moon roof. The good news is, that the constant oil leaks have pervented any rust from forming underneath the car, on any frame or suspension parts, so she's still solid. Though she has a mis-matched green fender, and a black hood. All of it could be fixed easily enough with a bit of body work and a paint job. Here's a recent picture from my trip to the track, though it's not very clear:

I've had a lot of fun with the car over the years. I have over 100 time slips, starting with 19 second passes when it was stock. This year, I finally got 12s with my very simple combination of mostly junk yard parts. Literally, the most expensive part I have is the tires, at 150$ each (nitto 555R). I rebuilt a C4 and installed it, along with my own work on head, saving money. There are still quite a few issues to fix, namely a bad turbo and a few leaks. None the less, it is still a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to finding much nicer and more expensive cars to eat for lunch.

I haven't gotten a lot of time or money to play with the car for the last 3-4 years, but I'm still making progress and having fun with the car. A bit more than 3 years ago, I met a wonderful girl from China. I've made a total of 5 trips there, including one where I presented a ring. On August 1st, she arrived here and we'll marry in just 1 week. It won't be too long before I'm a father as well. I do plan to keep the car as a toy, because it doesn't cost much to keep it and occasionally have fun as I have time.

I have a lot I'd like to do with the car this fall before the snow flies. First, I'd like to finish installing the nitrous setup I picked up and hit the dyno. Then, I'll have to see what she can do in the quarter again. Think I can get 11's on an 80 shot? Seems possible if I can get the 60' time down a bit more. I'd also like to take some of my flat black rust paint and hit the rusty spots before winter so it doesn't get a lot worse. My soon to be wife doesn't mind the car and enjoys going to some of the car/mustang events with me. She went with me to the track several weeks ago and took the above picture and some video: YouTube - Bhuff's 2.3 13.1 @ 106 August 29, 2008

And for good measure, here are some pictures of my daily driver. It's a 97 GT, 5sp, black interior. The color is origional, Autumn orange with less than 2000 produced in this color. She has 156k miles and I've had her since around 100k, but still in great condition and runs stronger than your average stockish NPI 4.6.

Looks good man! Congrats on the girl!

Whats your suspension setup since your running 05+ wheels?
My 89 is long gone. Ex sold it then bought it back then sold it again then the new owner sold it so that cars been passed around a lot considering I was the 2nd owner.

Thanks,

I just have the poor mans 5lug swap... SVO rotors on 5.0 brakes at the front with ranger/aerostar axles on drum brakes in the back. On the front, I also have longer studs and wheels spacers to make the center cap clear the dust cap.

I think these wheels look better on foxes than the 05+ mustangs. The newer mustangs are just a bit too big for that smallish 17" wheel in my opinion, but it's perfect on the fox.

Congrats on the new car, wife, and kid.... I haven't been around here much either. I got married, bought a house, got a full time job and just haven't had the time. I do still have my mustang as well, and i Drive it on nice days, but a minor wreck, and father time is making it look worse all the time... One of these days i will paint it and make it look pretty again, but it isnt in the cards for while yet. good to see there are still some turbo converts out there though.

Hey guys , It's been a very long while since I've been on here too. Thought I'd drop in to see what's going on. I've sold my Capri RS I built in 99-00 and since built a Turbocoupe w/hybrid and big valve oval port head. Got another Capri RS to work on but it goes really slow with family and work taking most of my time. Hate to admit we all gotta grow up sometime right.

Good to see there's still a few loyal around.

Been a long time for me on here as well! I check every few months or so but don't really have much to add anymore. Like everyone has said, it's good to see what everyone is up to!
I've still got the '93 and haven't gotten around to finding a motor - been busy with similar stories as the rest of us! I finished school in May and am still looking for a job in my field but have descent-paying full-time employment and am still living at home so hopefully I can get to finding a motor and start working on her this winter!
Just past 100k a few weeks back! Here is my most recent picture:

Holy crap! now there's someone I have not seen in a long time. How have you been 140, you still have the old red Stang?

Teal are those rims white and did you ever get that fender fixed?

Hey Dan! Hello to all you old pos(t)ers. I still have the red LX. Howevah, I did pull all the good stuff off her to combine onto 1 car (svo), so it's just covered for perhaps when my boy hits 16 or sumpin. Who knows, we might make a grease burning turbodiesel out of it.

I drove the 'vo a whopping 500 miles in the last 2 years, but she's always under the knife for some upgrade. Makes me smile everytime I drive it.

Press on! Red, your cars

Nah, they are stock silver/argent gray or whatever, but they do look white in the picture. And I have yet to fix the finder - money was short during college and didn't see the need to spend as long as it ran well.

Might be picking up a 2.3 turbo motor next week though!
