So I have a few questions. Does anybody have a brand preference/recommendation? I'm trying to figure out which one to use. Also concerned about clearance/fitment. My shortys barely scraped the rag joint on the steering shaft. Now going with TFS heads and a stock k member. 5 speed, stock bell housing. Contemplating changing the rack if I have to. I'm leaning towards BBK 1 3/4" ceramics with a x pipe. I'd like to get some Kooks but just to expensive.

I have my AFRs with my LTBBK Chrome(should have gotten CC) and I have no fitment issues. I'm lowered so I may rub the bottom with a full load in the car over speed bumps but nothing to cry home about. I have no rubbing issues with my steering shaft either. Kooks are tits but $$$!

It's only an inch or two. What's the big deal?

I've used hooker super competitions on foxes and F body GM cars both, and have been more than pleased with fitment and performance. They are NOT cheap, but light years ahead of BBK junk..

just my .02..

If money is no object, kooks or hooker, otherwise BBK.

Cost is a consideration. I looked at the kooks but they cost double!! It's hard to spend that much.

Are they 1 5/8 or 3/4"? You had plenty of clearance on the shaft? I don't know why my shortys rub.

BBK:

172 dollars difference between world class parts, and mass produced crap. I've owned both. Buy the hookers. You'll thank me..

i have mac on my car... its not all THAT bad to put them on. the driver side is a bit harder to get lined up. the passenger side bolts right up.

but the BBK would be much easier

I have ceramic BBK LT's 1 5/8" Do it!

Edit: Don't you think 1 3/4" will be too big for a 302? How long between building up your 302 before you swap to your Dart stroker?

I had Mac long tubes on all of my mustangs. They fit just fine. I do remember the steering shaft going through the the headers. Not sure if that is normal or not. I also remember having to unbolt motor mounts and jacking up the engine to get them in.

For the price, you can't beat them.

I'm sure the craftsmanship on a pair of kooks is much better. Should be for that kind of money.

I used my engine hoist. Unbolt the engine mounts, lift it up and over just an inch or two to gain clearance for the passenger side. I didn't even unbolt my T5 from the mounts or anything.

1 3/4" will be slightly over sized for a 302 but I'm going to maximize this build. Planning on somewhere around 63- 6500rpm shift point. Might be going solid roller not sure yet. And yes I think the dart block will be in there by summer of 16' or at the latest that winter.
