Two things to consider prolly more, but these are what I would consider. Does your state have emissions? Most long tube set-ups have only two cat's instead of the normal factory four. Also, you will need MIL eliminators to prevent a check engine light coming on. Finally, is your car lowered? If so, long tubes generally will catch on nasty speed bumps; sometimes even if the car isn't lowered. Just think of those things and you will come up with your answer... Good luck!

my suggestion would be if your only looking for tone and not performance stick with the shorties it will save your wallet

If your not trying to squeeze all the hp out that you can.....go with shorties....easier to change gaskets.....LT's give more hp/torque.......Grady can explain more........I'm happy with my BBK shorties and summit H....love the sound and have not too bad changing gaskets...

All your concerns seem to be sound related

If that is the case ... forget about ANY kind of header

Just copy the mid pipe and catback from someone who has the
sound you are looking ... or ... in this case ... listening for.

If you are looking for a bit more power
but
Sound is still the main motivation

Go with shorty's

grady has a good point ...i currently have stock headers and the sound is great but im after more then sound...and as i mentioned that appears to be your goal. i think either a o/r h or x and a nice cat back will satisfy your needs
