Long tubes

ok from what i keep seeing longtubes are a must if you want to get good NA numbers. My issue is i drag my exhuast now, do i have any option for longtubes that aren't going to get torn up? I have eibach sportlines my current pipes sit about 2.5 inchs off the ground.

Anyone have these springs and longtubes?

going mid legnth i would have to take the car to a shop for the piping from headers to mid pipe? it would have to be make custom or do people make the pipes that would allow it to bolt in. I have the Mac-prochamber which i can get the adapters for longtubes.

I live in NC with emmissions, but no cats Get the bassani's. I just got a set for the same reason. Plus I want to be able to remove my trans w/o removing my headers.

NC inspections are sooooo easy to pass. all you have to do is turn off all the readiness codes when you get your car tuned.

no CEL = passed inspection

This is the same reason i don't want long tubes.So i have shorties so i can keep my mid pipes,stock for e testing,and my Mac for all time use.I myself am not to concerned about that extra hp for the headaches of changing a clutch.If it were like the ol' T-5 days where the bellhousing and trans seperated,then long tubes would be in my GT's life.

Shorties is a waste of money. There are little to no gains(under 10 rwhp) with them. There are longtubes that are out there that allow you to remove the trans without removing a LT. I know Hooker, Flowtech(same company) and kooks allow you to remove the trans and you gain a lot more power from LT's than shorties.

my friend with a FI motor picked up 17rwhp adding shorties!...i will be doing shorties myself, LT;s arent worth the hassle IMO, they might make more power, but the amount of power is not worth the PITA

He has a Forced induction motor. If he had LT's he would have made a lot more than that. Shorties can be just as much a pita as LT's and the cost difference among them and install isn't that much. I rather see 20-30 rwhp than 5-10 for 500-600 bucks. They offer bigger gains throughout the powerband than shorties as well.

its not about peak power gains, but power throughout the ENTIRE powerband!

and like ^ said, kooks, hooker/flowtech, bassani, and some people said mac allow you to remove your tranny without removing your passanger side header.

bet your midpipe will hang lower than your collectors .

Bassani mid lengths FTW. They bolt right up to my bassani x pipe.... Most exhaust people will tell you that there is hardly any difference in the bassani mid lengths and long tubes power wise.

Btw, I have the catted x pipe and the cats are the lowest part on my whole exhaust. I never have scraping issues.

Go find the difference in gain between short and long tubes. I'm guessing it's under 10 hp. Once you find that number, subtract the added cost of longtubes. Then subtract the added pain of having your collectors really low to the ground. Then subtract the cost of a new midpipe. then subtract the headache of removing the longtubes to get to other parts of your car. Then, ask yourself if it's still worth it.

I paid $500 for my LT's and x pipe. Difference between shorties and LT's is about 15-20 rwhp peak and more throughout the powerband. I don't have to remove my Headers to get to anything. I don't scrape. Guess I lucked out. This is my 2nd car I did LT's. I guess it was worth it the first time to do it a second
