Longtube Header Install

Ok a few questions... I got my BBK longtube headers and Dr. gas x-pipe in today.

1. I'm gonna take it to shop for install... what kind of price should I be looking at for install for both headers and LT's (including welding the X-pipe) ?

2. Do i need just 1 pair each of the MIL eliminators and 02 sensor extensions?

3. Is there anything else I need to buy or do before i get all this done?

Longtube Install

$400 on install (BBK longtube and catted X). Don't know if this was high or low, but from what I have heard, this is no easy install, so I went with a mustang speed shop that knows their stuff. Good luck.

Yeah, one pair of mil eliminators was all it took. didn't like the parting words of the mechanic: "if the check engine light comes on give us a call hahahahaha".

I didn't laugh.

I appreciate it man, I plan on going to a very reputable shop as well, I dont want this messed up... anyone else have an install price??

I hope he is wrong about that but he is right about it not being easy. The headers are hardest cause on your car it is very confined and it is hard enough on an older car. Just getting the old headers out is a chore in itself then you have cut out all your stock equipment, install the new headers and X pipe then weld it all and put the removed car parts back on and hook up your cats. Considering the above I think you
will be lucky at that price and you do want good guys.....no leaks. Like I said I hope he is wrong but I doubt it.

But..... I hear Dr. Gas is proven to be the BEST on the market and BBK's ain't to shabby either.........You gonna love it.

Installed mine with my dad. You can see all the pics of what we had to go through and how long it takes from link to my site in sigature.

If you're having a shop install $400 sounds very reasonable I wouldn't go over $500.

You will need 02 extension for the long tube. If you have o/r and not catted x pipe.. you'll need a pair of MIL elim.

That is all you need. unless you're installing them yourself and needed some extra tools.. have fun

with long tube headers, the position of the oxygen sensor get moved back further more. So, your stock oxygen sensor wire cannot reach the new location. Thus, oxygen sensor extension is required.

Called up one of the better shops (In my opinion) in Mobile and I told the guy I was 19 and it was muh birthday and he says hed weld up the Dr. Gas and install the LT's for $350... $50 off cause it was my birthday. Ordered o2 extensions and MIL Eliminators and theyll be here Wednesday then It'll get put on.... thanks for your help guys. - mark

Saddly I paid 450 for install, from a very good 5.0 shop in my area, however im a little disapointed with the results, guess there not such a great 4.6 shop, makes some wierd noises, possibly a leak, when I get on the gas, and when i get off to shift. If its done right i would agree with everyone else, 400 to 500, it is a lot of work.
