what are my choices on brands when it comes to longtubes for a 02 auto gt. i think my only choice is mac.

Mac -is- prob. the best and i would go with them. I have really never herd any complaints with them. I say go for em, and obviously dont forget your shorty midpipe.

I have the Mac's on my car and I have but two somewhat small complaints. One, they rust really easy but rust is to be expected with anything that isn't stainless steel. Two, you have to pull the passengers side header to be able to drop the transmission out of the car but thats the same as all other header brands with Hooker headers being the only exception. Other than that, I like my Mac headers and they definately fit good, sound good, and give acceptional power.

I'm not sure what makes them diff. for an automatic.

BBK long tubes don't allow you to remove the 5 speed tranny on 96/97 and up mustangs, bad news when time for a clutch job.

Hooker headers do allow the tranny to come out. Good news on the 3650 owners since they don't separate from the bell housing. But the headers cost twice as much.

Higgins got them for me directly from Kooks. I have Kooks stepped, ceramic coated longtube headers, Kooks 3" O/R X-pipe, and 3" dumped DynoMax Ultra Flo Welded mufflers.

With the auto, you have three choices: Hooker, Kooks, and MAC. I went with Hooker and have been very satisfied. I purchased the ceramic coated headers for longevity and heat reduction in the engine bay.
