Can you tell what year the Mustang in the 12th picture is? The one with the number 1 on it and this cap underneath : "The next three photos show just some of the Special-Edition Mustangs out there."
I tried blowing it up bigger but it lose's detail. The stripe looks similiar to a 67 -68 and from what I can tell so do the headlight buckets. Yet something say's its a 66 to me. Got a reason for asking, but going to wait till someone gives me his opinion.

It's a 67-68 coupe, looks like it's set up for Trans-Am racing...

Actually the scoop is not off the first car and thats a colorado's high country special badge. See the Diffrence in stripes. The other 2 pictures are not of the top car. The 3rd one does say california special on the rear quarter.

Sorry bub, the original picture is 67-68 most likely 68.

Why? Body is bigger than 65-66.

I'm gonna say '68, due to the C-Stripes on the sides. Did they do those in '67?

You may be getting distracted by the angle and the fact that it is a coupe. Remember, the windsheild is the same in all the early years so the roof dimensions of the coupes are very similar and that photo makes the roof and winsheild most prominent.

It's all in the nose. Look at how deep the grille surround trim is, the '67-'68 trim is twice as deep as '65-'66 trim, and see how it leans forward as it goes up? '65-'66 doesn't do that. Also, look at the headlight buckets, the headlights are deep inside there, the '65-'66 aren't that deep, plus the back of the headlight door on the '65-'66 is almost perpendicular to the hood edge.

Now as far as whether this is a '67 or a '68, it's tough to tell. Too hard to see any side marker lights or reflectors, the scoop area was modified for the flare, it really could be either. That C-stripe is painted on, not a sticker, it could have been somehting they liked from the '67 Trans-Am cars and carried it over to the '68 production line.

I do like it though....

I agree it is a 67, possibly a 68. The body is the same with minor trim differences, and the trim is removed.

I did some online research yesterday and couldn't find any Mustangs with that big of flairs on them. But most of the ones that were flared were '68's. I don't remember seeing any flared '68's that had the front marker light and the ones that had the rear reflectors were the surface mounted ones which are easily removed, besides, I can see why trim and un-needed other things are removed, if you scrape a wall or another car, more likely of trash being deposited on the racing surface to cause more problems. As I posted earlier, that rear quarter is flared so much that the factory simulated scoops wouldn't work, but seeing that there were more '68's flared than '67's, I'm going to guess that it's either a '68 or a '67 redone for the '68 season. I did see a flared car that had his a guardrail and it exposed about a 1/4" to 3/8" of bondo to smooth the flair out.

My vote is for 68 and either the reflector/side marker lights were removed, or it's an early 68 before they were required.

That said, it's so not stock that it really could be either a 67 or 68. It definitely isn't a 65 or 66, though.

65 347 was close, It was a 66 with a one piece nose section done like the 67-68 shelby. How do I know? I own the car. Glastang saw it when it was being transported out of the Marana, Az area to a Tempe area storage facility and it will soon make its way back to South Phoenix. Some of you older mustanger's in the Phoenix area might recall the stories about the 66 california special being spotted in south Phoenix back in the 60's. This is that car, but it has never worn California Special badge's. Been along time since it's been driven (75 or 77 was the last time. I am a grandfather now. So I dont know how much of how it goes back together will I be able to recall and might be posting alot of question's.
