lookie what i did!!!

i've been waiting to get one of these for like 2 years now. I want to get a wideband sensor first as tuning is a MAJOR part of using meth. there are a couple guys(i think eades had it on his last combo) on here that have meth kits, but this is the first NA combo i've heard of.

if your looking for a cheaper meth kit, look into AFM's Mr. Freeze. no electric pump, its all run off of vacuum. it's a cheaper kit too. He uses straight wiper fluid where as the snow kit uses a 50/50 meth/water mix.

You can't run the AFM Mr Freeze on an N/A setup though, only Forced Induction.

I'm seriously thinking of getting one of those AFM Mr F kits..... :D

im not going to bad mouth the stuff buti have some opinions on why i would never run it

1-methanol (itself) burns clear and that scares the crap out of me

2-i never like being at the "limit" of anything in my car. for example, you can run a TON of timing with this kit, but what if something fails? then you are at a huge risk of a boom. i use the same mentality when i sprayed my car. I ran extra fuel pressure and retarded the timing a few degrees. neither was 100% necessary but i would rather have a safety cushion while walking a thin line.

3-they pretty much say it in their site
In theory, at recommended quantities, most of the mixture is evaporated before it hits the combustion chamber
i like to keep non flammable substances out of my engine as often as possible.

4-They call it "an insurance policy." But if thats the only thing that is allowing you to keep your motor from not blowing up, then I call it a "band aid". Its something i personally would never use

the flip side to that is that IMHO 50/50 (h20/meth) is far less "dangerous" to your engine than FORCED air, or NITROUS! and with my set up I can dial down my timing back to 10 at will or dial it up. With a BLOWER you have to take the thing out of the car. Plus detonation is less severe with N/A applications than with FORCED applications. As for the safety of it. If you research meth/water injection it was used in fighter planes in world war 2 and has been used for decades. Dont quote me but I even think it is stock in the WRX'S. Its not a "new" science. From another perspective you dialing down your timing and INCREASING FUEL PRESSURE so you can run nitrous sounds like it has "band aid" & "insurance policy" like qualities also.

Meth burns clear? ok well gas just BURNS. Dont get your point

"but what if something fails? then you are at a huge risk of a boom." ok same with a blower, turbo, or nitrous

Lowering the timing and upping the fp is not something that can fail. I am setting them at a certain point, and they will remain constant until I change them back. the concept is completely different.

this kit basically allows you to operate at a point (high boost, or timing) thats not a good idea with out it. If i am able to run 20 lbs of boost on my motor with the kit, but only 14 SAFELY without, then i dont want to see what happens if the kit doesnt do its job at 20psi

methanol burns with a clear flame and is almost invisible. hence why i would not want that in my engine bay....

i am well aware of what can happen if something goes wrong with a sprayed or boosted motor. the are many variables that can lead to something going wrong. these include timing, fuel, tune, etc. This kit is just one MORE thing that can go wrong and if it does you may be in some trouble.
