Going to look at a 2000 mustang V-6, automatic tomorrow. It has a Mac cat-back exhaust and a Winstar intake. I have a few questions that I hope somebody can answer.

First, how reliable are the Ford V-6 engines and 4 speed autos? It has 117k miles.

Second, is the Winstar intake upgrade making any performance difference?
What are some of the things about this year mustang and drivetrain that I should know about, if any?

Be on the look out for a bad head gasket.

Check for carbon build up in the intake manifold.

Check for rust through on the right hand exhaust manifold. Also check for exhaust leaks on the right hand side.

Check for rust through on the gas tank filler neck. Check for leaks from the gas tank filler neck grommet.

The 4R70W is strong and long lasting when serviced.
